2015 E Class questions

Might be a long shot but have you adjusted the seat height right down? Might be more cushion if you raise it a bit? Auto boxes do clunk a bit under undue stress, try keeping the brake firmly on when going from Park on a hill.

Thanks for the reply. It's booked in at the dealers on Thursday so they can have a look at the seat when it's serviced. I've tried all the seat height positions and although it does make a slight difference it's still not right.

Yes - I have. I get this sound when moving away from park to drive - sounds like I'm causing damage to the car.

Apparently the clunking is normal according to mercedes when it was in for a service. The seats fine, so it looks like I will have to sit on a cushion for the next two years :(

On a positive note, they fixed the poor DAB reception with a firmware fix.

I've had this firmware fix. It helps the system switch between DAB and FM very quickly. So quickly the ear can't notice it in most cases. The real problem is the ariel amplifier - it is flawed.

I listen to Radio 5 Live whenever I'm in the car. If I'm driving down the M6 from say junction 18 to the Toll Road I will frequently lose signal and get that horrid scratching noise.

My previous Merc - a W204 (C class) had perfect DAB reception. It's ever since they 'upgraded/renewed/redesigned' the ariel amp has this problem manifested the latest E class and new C class. My wife's Mazda gets better DAB reception than a premium branded car like Merc at the moment.

I've given up on getting it fixed - they had may car in for 3 days trying to sort it.

Ah, I see. So it's more of a patch than a fix! Well at least I can listen to mine now which is a big improvement. I like dab as I can change stations with voice command rather than use the idrive thingy.

Like you said, it's not the sort of problem you would expect on a £40k car.

This is my first MB and in all likelihood probably my last.

Anyone know if I can set the sunroof to auto close on exit? Left it open on tilt all night the other night, but thankfully it didn't rain :)

I had thought I read somewhere that it would auto close if the rain sensor detected rain!

The roof should auto close when it rains. Tried it out by locking car with roof open then splashed a few drops of water onto screen sensor. Roof closes but remains raised at rear. Handbook warns that roof will not close if windscreen under cover ( gives the example of car part way under a bridge.
If you get out closing the roof simply press and hold the lock button whilst pointing the key at the drivers door. You must keep the button pressed until the roof is fully closed.
