202 bootlid mods and upgrades

There is no individual wiring from the switch, it shares the cable with the mirror adjustment and electric window control, something like 4 or 6 wires.

After that I've no idea but there must be some kind of solenoid at the other end.

the other end should be ok, as the faclift bootlid i have is complete, the wiring has been chopped, so the release solonoid etc will still be there!

may have to soucrce the switch plug from a breakers then, may email dronsfield, but have always found them a little unhelpfull when it comes to wiring requests!

5. add a reverse camara, any ideas on where though?

any advise on the lock side? does the facelift lock have electronic release (hence the switch) i know it also has a vacuum pipe probably for the central locking side.

any ideas, opinions appreciated! :D

Would you want to drill a hole through the number plate and hide a camera behind the hole?

Did you see the thread I did recently on repairing the boot lock?It has a tiny micro switch on it which could be made to fit on the inside on the boot handle, and the barrel assy could be cut down leaving the lock mechanism still in place so the boot can be flat around the lock.

hi pluggers

I was considering drilling a hole behind the number plate somewhere, will look into that option.

I had totally missed your post, very usefull gives a good insight into how the lock is put together!

one question though, the airpipe is for locking, and the microswitch looks like its wired to the main interior switch, but what does the microswitch trigger to open the boot, and where is that connected?

after seeing pluggers thread about the lock repair, it seems there are only 2 wires going to the microswitch, so the other 4 maybe illumination and power!

still need to know what the switch triggers to open the lock!

Those wires are shared with the electric window and mirror buttons though AFAIK, it uses canbus.

not yet mate, ive got to get hold of a few things before i can continue, also the electric interior is going into a valeters to give it a good clean as its filthy.

Have you got your sorted yet?

Not yet, the second part of the loom has come in. Will pick it up today and then pluck up the courage to take my car apart

Had a look at my air pump and the tube for the boot lock is the white one in the middle of the green 3 into 1 manifold. The other 2 I thought they would go into the engine bay but I could only see a couple of purple tubes and a green one there,So I'm assuming the 2 white ones will terminate inside the car somewhere.

Good luck with it. Be shure to take pictures on the way for us to see :)

same setup as mine, i think the key question now is where do the wires to the microswitch go to?

To the pump control module.

The air opens the boot.

thanks for that, just trying to get my head round how this works.... on the pre-facelift, the air only controls the central locking, and the push action on the lock opens the boot, one hose conencted to the pump. The facelift lock only seems to have one vacuum pipe as well (going by pluggers pics), so how does it central lock and open using the single vacuum pipe?

if i can get an understanding of how its all controlled i`ll have a good chance of retrofitting the newer style lock latch with microswitch. im pretty sure the pre-facelift does not have a microswitch there.

I'm sure there is no central locking to the boot lock on later cars. Just the action of the electric switch is inhibited when the key is set to the central lock position and the car is locked.
The air pump then operates the latch as required.

If the key is set to the unlock position the button interfaces with the latch directly.

I agree, you dont hear the whirring of the boot motor when you lock the car like you do on the pre-facelift.

Have you dropped a line to SteveNL about this as hes already done it?

I think your right there. When I replaced the micro switch pushing the lock barrel in did nothing with the switch disconnected. Its only the action of pushing the barrel in and the ridge on the actual barrel touching the micro switch made the air pump work and unlock it.Push a key in and turn there is a mechanical action to unlock the boot regardless of any power to the micro switch.

As for the wires from the micro switch I reckon they go to the central locking module next to the pump,Same for the release switch on the centre console.

If the car has CAN then the switch on the console goes to the pump via the CAN and the boot switch goes direct.
