211 Parktronic

Quickpark does use the same sensors, so if your bumper has removable trim strips, just order one up (which come in the correct colour).
On some models, (such as SL) they stopped having seperate trim strips in about 2006(ish) - so you have to drill - I dont know if this applies to thw W211 or not, but I expect if they did it on one model they did it on all at the next facelift as I imagine it was a move to reduce the amount of parts stored.

Anyone explain this please. Got the vin number of this new car today, it's a 58 plate. Entered that into the EPC and it's coming up with the same three section removeable rear bumper trim as an 05 vin car. However.....actually looking at this new car the bumper trim is part and parcel of the whole rear bumper and does not separate. To retro-fit sensors It looks like a complete bumper will be required. Despite it having the vin it looks like the EPC is wrong or hasn't been updated to the later car. Also it wont display the data card, the icon being greyed out.
Anybody else come across this with the EPC?

The russian epc or the online MB one?

The pukka subscription EPC. The bumper is one piece.

when i retrofitted parking sensors in a car a few years ago, i penciled the size needed onto the bumper and then drilled smaller holes than required into the centre. then used a file to just file the plastic into the size just enough for the sensor to clip into. i wouldnt cut the hole straight off due to in-accuracy; the sensors i was fitting had a very small lip and there was a danger of it just falling through if it wasnt perfect.

i would just drill the existing bumper if its a one piece unit

Im reasonably sure that there are marks on the inside as to where you should drill.

I would use a hole puncher of the correct size, which means drill very small hole, then bigger one the size of the bolt through the hole puncher, then punch the remaining.

I think Merc OEM sensors dont have any 'washer' around the outside hide any non-roundness of the hole.

Go to www.rswww.com and search for "punches and dies" , click "punches and dies" and then scroll down to "Hole Punches - Round" and you'll see what I mean - they are a few quid but cut perfect round holes of whatever size punch you bought. I use them to cut the hole for the iPod connection or 3.5mm aux socket ..

If you look in my gallery at the first post you'll see I've done this mod. I bought an aftermarket kit and a rear "parktronic" light unit for the ceiling of the car. the kit came with a cutting drill bit to make holes of the correct size and MB helpfully have the holes marked on the inside of the trim strip.

The cutting holes and wiring up was easy but the making the non factory display work inside the body of the factory unit was a complete pain of a job.

PS: At £1900 for a factory retrofit it would be cheaper to crash. LOL
