I noted that the 250 Engine no longer has a brabus desiel chip available and being honest, its too slow. Granted I am not the target customer for Mercedes sure.

But the SLK 250 is on 0 percent finance and the 250 engine is cheaper.

Do you know of any amazing torque changes and ideas that you recommend?

I would be not wanting to RECODE the car straight after picking it up.

Besides even the Brabus didn't really add much for the massive price

Thoughts?

I don't really understand what you are asking? The 250 CDi engine you cannot get a Brabus chip for and you don't like it. But you like it in the SLK and want it remapping? But you don't want to remap it straight away...

Which leaves you with a tuning box. Which is pants.

The 250CDi engine is excellent for what it is.

Thanks

Oh - I felt it was lacking in torque in the SLK 250CDI

For a sporty car it was fine but much less torquey than an Audi TT or 2.0 BMW engine.

Wondered if anyone had successfully tuned.

Yes successfully tuned plenty of these.

Strange in comparison to the Audi engine, the Merc engine is much better and on par at least with the BMW if not better.

I have an SLK250CDi and it has bags of torque for a small engine. What I suspect is that you have the gearbox in E which kills power. Test drive again and make sure it is in S mode.

Honestly, the SLK 250CDi is a peach of an engine.

Right I will try that...

It wasn't rubbish far from it.

I had a E350 but not comparing...

The 250 seemed to be so small and tiny I expected to get all kinds of wheels going and that push...

But all the youtube reviews do say plenty of torque...

The C220 I drove ( new ) was sadly very ****... though. Just for that money no power compared to 520.

Have a word with your dealer and see if there are any experience days coming up. I had numerous cars with the 250CDi engines on track at Croft and it was a capable car.

The E350 CDi engine is stunning. But I can't say enough about the SLK 250 CDi. I brought it this year as it was too cheap to turn down.

In S mode it is quick. In E mode it's pretty boring I will be honest. All low down and mid range.

It's nothing compared to the SL55 AMG. But still an awesome car. As good as my old 2001 SLK 230K.
