3 Cars Keyed

I have a driveway, but have been told that having 7-10 cars at any one time on my driveway "looks bad" and "lowers the standard of the area" (kid you not). Admittedly, I don't have a ferrari, porsche or other supercar on my drive like my neighbors, but a fleet of bangers that I use for rallies and 3 "normal" cars... but still.

Police came around on Sunday, looked around for CCTV (there wasn't any), and basically showed a presence, which is all I wanted. The chap was very apologetic saying that it was unlikely they would catch whoever did it.

Fingers crossed it doesn't happen again...

Sounds a bit like the area a friend lived in : when he kept his caravan up the drive ( between the houses and out of sight of the street ) he was told it 'lowered the tone' of the street - this was a newish caravan worth more than a lot of cars on the road .

Michele : 7-10 cars ? You must have a big driveway ; I can only get two cars on my drive and two out in front of the house , my mum's driveway is longer but still only good for three cars , plus room on the road for two in front of her house .

For what it's worth , SWMBO is constantly telling me that I have too many cars ( I only have two right now , but have had more in the past ) but I believe that one can never have too many cars .

This thread also puts me in mind of something that Clint Eastwood once said in one of his movies ( was it Pink Cadillac ? ) along the lines of 'you should never interfere with a man and his vehicles' ??

Oh FFS, here we go again........

LOL. I kind of enjoy the pointless and often ironic bickering and comments, keeps me entertained at work!:o

op, as has been mentioned, CCTV kits are cheap as chips these days. Would be worth sticking a camera up and see what happens.
One of my neighbours has one at the back looking down his garage access and he's (unfortunately) recorded people having a number 2 in the lane, apparently worse for ware on the way home from the pub... charming.

I've commented on this thread because it sounds like there are two sides to the story. For the record, and for the second time, I don't believe that damage to any personal property is acceptable.

However, I might have some empathy with the OP's neighbours if he is creating an eyesore. The OP has some previous in this area and there might be more to this than meets the eye.

For example, he was looking to build a climbing frame up the side and over the roof of his house - would you encourage this in your neighbourhood?

On a more positive note he has built a rather fantastic looking outdoor pizza oven of which I am quite jealous.

If I were to pack them in, I could probably fit 12ish cars, so the driveway is reasonably sized. There's a large hedge in front, so from the street you can only see through the "opening". Tempted to see if I need planning permission to get a gate fitted, at least they would have to jump the gate.

No need for PP to fit a gate, mine are 2 metres high and were n issue to fit. They go a long way to ensuring privacy.

If the neighbours continue to gripe about your cars , since they are all street legal , you could try parking them in the street for a while , outside the suspect's house , then see if he prefers them there or on your drive

I recently had my mercedes hood ornament snapped off and strange as it was, I was glad. It only cost £40 to replace. I would have died if my car was keyed because due to my car OCD that would have meant a full respray.

Just key your neighbours car.. Then if he says anything you can tell him that you had 3 of your cars keyed and that you and your neighbour must have annoyed somebody :)

All the above was said tongue in cheek before the inevitable backlash !!!

Last time I had to buy a Mercedes Star it was about a tenner - not so very long ago .

My pal bought the last new old stock one from Germany for a W100 - that thing is in a whole different league , like the rest of the car . I never asked what he paid .
