I have an '06 w164 320cdi. It has, I am told, a 7g auto box. It has been determined that the "Valve Body" under the gear box needs replacing, so I left it with a dealer and was told a maximum of two weeks.

Phone call 2 weeks later tells me that MB UK has told him it will be delivered on the 8th June.

That is a 3 month wait for a spare part for a current model.

This seems unreasonable.

Is there any dealer out there that has one of these from stock?

Welcome to my world.

I am waiting for a engine loom for an SL from MB. I have had 3 delivered and all wrong. I have been waiting for nearly 3 months. The car is off the road too at my workshop.

It does happen sometimes when there is a huge demand for a part (in your case)

I live n a different world (boilers) and it can happen that the factory are waiting for their suppliers to get make the part, and who in turn are waiting for the raw materials to be delivered.
MB (and all other "manufacturers") are not manufacturers, but actually "assemblers" and rely on component manufacturers to supply their parts, and so it goes down the line.
The supply of parts is now dependant upon raw materials from around the world, most being from China and India, and current economic, political and climatical events (earthquakes etc) will all have an effect on their availabilty.

Your dealer will be able to check the stock at other dealers. Do you have the part number of the item you need?
