The TT exhaust tips fall a bit short of the bumper edge...may use some period AMG tips to extend the pipe.

Still some "tweaking" to do and more parts such as the mirrors to be painted..

Getting a bit of reverse "separation anxiety"..it's been away so long that I almost don't know how to act as the completion is near !!!

Hence why I asked as everything else looks :cool:

The yellow lights in the main headlight unit are actually fog lights. I think they look great.

But where does the idea of yellow bumper driving lights come from? I don't remember those being pictured on AMG vehicles very often.

Car looks great. Would love to see it in person. Maybe sometime, when I'll be overseas :)
Waiting for video footage of completed widebody coupe showing off its awesome traction :)

Maciej...they are the French spec Hella lights.
Trying to determine if the yellow light has fog or driving optics like the 500E.

Bumper driving lights in clear are HWA 201 820 0156 and yellow HWA 201 920 0156Y. The "y" suffix" was for AMG French export cars.
I have both sets of the Bosch Pilot 150's.

AMG NA catalogued a yellow fog lamp which was bumper bracket mount on R107 and in bumper mount on W201/W124

So many variations on the early AMG builds...even the contour of the widebody C124 depended on how the panels were fitted to the car...

I tried to stay with all period Euro OEM or aftermarket parts and patterned from the original WB sheetmetal kit and adjusted based on research of the few C124 WB that were built...
The contours are from mild to aggressive depending on the build !!

From the 1988 AMG brochure..

This beat silver C124WB had the rear leading cladding contoured instead of flat like on the Stratton's build. We preferred the cladding contoured as it gave it more of a factory rather the add on look

Finishing up

Going through the "left to do" list....

Repairing some interior plastic trim, no longer available from Merc, due to getting brittle over the years...

Removed the Ducktail and which needs a bit of a trim before refitting...

Need to reverse the headlight wiper motors...

Hood heat extractors turned out better then expected considering the thin hood sheetmetal !

There you go Ed coming together nicely. Ever thought of adding just a touch more black somewhere, maybe at the bottom of the sills right the way around, or where the chrome normally goes on the side panels?

Often wondered what the lower bumper cutout/setback piece in the centre would look like in black too........??

Someone might care to do a photoshop impression??

Just read this thread from the start,, very impressed,I am looking forward to see it all done and dusted..

Great job, looks fantastic.

How is it going, Ed?

Should we be expecting a photo-shoot of the final result soon? ;)

I'd really love to see the ducktail on the finished car in detail.

BTW

I have a question regarding AMGs. Since you own a nice collection of AMG catalogues...

Were AMG W124s available in two-tone or was it not an option? I like my W124 more in two-tone, but if they couldn't be ordered in anything else but colour-coded body all around, I'd stick to that.

AMG typically went color matched , but keep in mind they built to the owners specifications and what the owner wanted he got...if he could afford it !!!

I don't recall any non color matched AMG builds..but anything is possible !!!

AMG Central in Westmont Illinois USA even offered a "gold package'...very eighties with all emblems gold plated !!...

Almost done, just a few interior bits and pieces and then a scheduled photo shoot in early November....!!!

*checks calendar* Dammit, it's still October :(
