Will be using my car a lot more, so need to bite the bullet and cover up the worn patch on my 300d driver's seat bolster...

Any recommendations for 3rd party seat covers? Just covering up the seat, rather than a replacement...

The seat covers on ebay look a bit tat... so decided to ask..

It isn't all that difficult to replace the fabric covers on the seats - it can easily be done in a day of your spare time for the first one - after that , when you know what you are doing it goes a lot quicker - I've recovered quite a few seats now .

The trick is to find a car in a scrapyard with the same interior trim as yours - usually the passenger seats have been sat in much less and are in perfect condition - you can either change over the floor runners which are left and right sided , or strip the fabric covers off your drivers seat and fit the ones from the passenger seat . If your seats have electric adjustment , you don't have to worry about the floor runners being left/right handed as they will be the same - at most you might need to remove an armrest from a passenger seat . I typically pay about £25 for a complete seat out of a breakers .

Failing that , new material to match is available from this company in Germany

Klaus Hermann Mayer Cabrio-Verdecke und Innenausstattungen in Esslingen

A good many fabric covers are still available from your local dealer too

as with derek, if you find a passenger one from a scrap car but dont want to remove the seat due to postage etc (if buying from ebay etc) the cover itself can be easily removed with the seat still in situ and posted really cheap. i know as i took one off my old w124 when i broke it and posted it to the buyer for about £5 and then he fitted it to his drivers seat. only diff is the hole for the armrest shows on the drivers side but you can cover that up with a badge or something and would look quite tidy, ie a MB badge or something
