4 Seater Convertibles

what about the VW EOS with the Golf GTi engine .. it has that amazing panaromic roof that also tilts and opens when the roof is up. I drove it and loved it. Well built and looks good too.

Yes, in the mainstream there are many models. But if the desire is for a luxury convertibel the choice is limited. In the top tier: Mercedes and BMW. In the next tier: Audi, Volvo and Saab. Afetr that it is the major mass producers like VW, renault, Vauxhall, Peugeot and so on.

What is remarkable looking at some of the prices listed in this thread is we should all be buying Convertibles, depreciation-wise.

In my opinion I would put the EOS over the Saab.....

I was very nearly tempted by the A4 recently, but the lack of space in the rear seats put me off and I decided to stick with Merc.

This is one of the reasons why we've got a CLK cab as opposed to an Audi. OK, the 240 isn't exactly quick, but I don't see the point in a fast cab - the body will always flex too much to make the performance useable.

At the end of the day it always comes down to "Try before you buy"

However if I had some money available at present I would be after the E320 Cab from SL300-24. That has to be an appreciating (and appreciated) car, very nice.

The guy on Used Car Roadshow opted for an Audi S4 Cab, wow what a car. One of the earlier posters suggested that build quality on their new(ish) Merc was better than an Audi, they must have been smoking some pretty strong drugs at the time!:D

Our neighbours have just acquired this -

Apart from the colour, I think it's a superb bit of kit.

But as a four seater it fails the test - the padding on the rear seat-back is about half an inch thick. Not at all like the soft squashy seats in my coupe.

I've sat on more comfortable park benches.

Ugly. The only word

Thats the problem with hardtop convertibles - to cover 4 seats needs a big boot to fold the contraption into...If going hard top then the slk and mx-5 are nice -- but only 2 doors -

Potentially with an F prepended to it!
I disagree, the interior is not my taste but in terms of proportion and lines these look fantastic - having real presence. Not that I like the colour of the one in the picture mind.;)
EDIT: -
Wait revise that, I've just looked at the website, the car is rearly(sic) colour sensitive. Light metallics give it a big bump. The one I saw in the flesh was black and looked the business!

How big are your back seat passengers and what's the budget?

Someone's mentioned a 996 - if your back seat passengers are small why not one of the 911s - my kids fit easily in the 964 and will be able to for a few years yet......

The only problem is the facial expressions.......

The other car not mentioned so far is the BMW 6 series convertible ... I'm sure that's a full 4-seater.

The 6 series convertible is spacious for a convertible but will set you back min £27k. If you wait a year, then you may get closer to the lower twenties.

To some it is not even a full sized two seater. Short of legroom in the front and dismal in the back. More room in the front of a Beetle. And surely the ugliest bit of Bangle of all.

Nothing in recent times has equalled the old E class convertible for space.

Hi

A full four seater is a must, other wise i would love another R129 SL.

We are going to test drive an A4 on saturday and subject to me finding a CLK we will also be test driving one of those too.

I found a beautiful CLK430 yesterday fully loaded just up the road from the Audi but its now sold :-(
