500 Coupe Cruise Control Problem

The Cruise Control On My Customers 140 500 Coupe (1994 Model) Engages By Itself, For Example You Would Be Driving Along At 40 Mph And Gradually The Speed Will Rise Continuously Causing You To Slow The Car Down By Braking.. The Car Has Come In For Some Paint Repairs And He Wants This Problem Solved Whilst I Have It.any Suggestions Would Be Greatly Appreciated.

I would be looking for wiring problems with the electronic throttle actuator and associated wiring as a possibility ?? Can be affected by the dreaded insulation breakup?? this site gives details for the V12 but applies equally to a V8. Might be worth a close examination of the wiring insulation.
