I'd get the car recovered to a Mercedes specialist and ask them to diagnose it. Shouldn't take more than a few hours to diagnose & hopefully fix

Hi Liz,

Welcome to the forum...due to storage time it could be a multiple of things causing your issue...where are you located? theirs quite a few MB Indys on the forum, if close maybe a member could recommended.

Hi Lizzie,

I recently bought a Mercedes that had several problems.
Received very good service from Alex Crow, who is based in Stowmarket. He quickly diagnosed what was wrong, quoted for the repair work and updated me as the work progressed. Can't recommend him highly enough :)
Hope you soon get your car sorted.

Mark

Pretty standard for these engines to splutter if been sitting a while due to condensation. First thing a mechanic should check is distributor caps ! A computer thingy will not necessarily pick this up ! You need an old school mechanic who knows these engine type .

Good luck with getting this sorted.

Hi Lizzie

I am not much of a handyman, but every year in autumn I take off the distributor cap, wipe off the moisture, spray it with silicone spray, wipe it again, and put it back together. It's really not complicated, and you might be able to drive it to Alex for a service . . .

Good luck!

Jon

On the M119 there are two caps... worth replacing them and the rotor arms if the car hasnt been used for a while.
