55 AMG Kompressor vibration issue

Do the suffer with egr issues Alx? Is that what the two vac valves on the side of the compressor are?

If its rough at idle it could something simple such as the maf, spark plugs or coil packs. Might be worth finding out via the star equipment.

It's not at idle. It's when reving over 2k much worse when cold. No faults when read with star.

Can't say if they all do that (mine didn't) but it's worth checking. My RR has just had a new valve fitted under warranty. Same symptoms as you describe (engine vibration at cold start, idle, acceleration, deceleration but no code).

Yes, the two bronze plated cylinders on each size of the s/c are the valves.

You can check the harmonic damper by looking at the crank pulley with the engine running. It should run completely true and not wobble at all. Mine is overdue replacement and moved the belt around visibly.

Can you just blank off the egr's or remove the vacuum hose. Or does this cause other issues?

Mine is due soon too. Crank pulley has started to wobble. Not really felt any vibrations from it though. All the pulleys on the 55 Kompressor engines are terrible to be honest.

You can blank off but it may trigger the CEL.

Pulleys are not terrible at all. Yours might be worn from extensive (ab)use. They are much better quality than any aftermarket offering.

Must be my own personal experience then, the car doesn't get much use let alone '(ab)use'. Just seems to a constant uphill battle with my CL55 to keep it running normally.

Most likely. OE pulleys are not known to fail prematurely. Aftermarket ones are indeed try and error. Some members on here go through them like they are a consumable. Didn't mean you abused the car personally, perhaps previous owners?

My father owned the car for 10 years before handing it to me, he couldn't justify selling it and he never really drove it hard (think he was slightly scared of it).
Funnily enough I'm planning on changing the supercharger idler and serpentine belt tensioner and belts over the weekend. Any experience with changing these?

You may need to get the fan out. Pulleys on mine came off pretty easily but the engine was out.

No personal experience with the aftermarket kit as the originals haven't failed me yet.

What abt the drive shaft doughnut?

It happens stationary. So not the drive shaft.
