Looks & sounds like an honest car maybe slightly overpriced as some work needs doing ie rust. They have really shot up in the past 18mths since I was looking at them , most of the ones I saw had a fair bit of rust & rear shelves & rear glass needed replacing, so I am probably over cautious about rear shelf's, just wish I had A GUITAR lol

This one has come up in conversation before on another thread, 11 owner's i think is whats putting people off :/

Does indeed look very nice tho :)

Problem is it's in Gateshead.

Long way to go for 95% of possible buyers.

Owners may well include a number of plate changes.

That keeps catching my eye, it's on it's way down in price as it started at circa £8k.

If it's as clean as it looks and isn't Cat C/D the number of owners isn't really an issue.

£6.5K isn't asking daft money for a clean one of these in the right colours.

Like Charles says, the problem is it's in Gateshead otherwise I would have a mooch over to look it on an idle Sunday.

I agree it's a nice looking car, and it has come up before. The obvious question from the ad though is how come it's rusting on a rear wheel arch if it's had a recent "top quality bare metal respray".

And the monobloc alloys certainly aren't period ones.

I'm seriously considering this one- a local (NE) enthusiast who is knowledgeable in these cars has confirmed it's a good example. My wife has put a block on it until I sell something though!

Haha!
To be fair, she has thus far been very accommodating of my car "obsession" as she puts it.... It's a case of the existing cars not being used: I just tend to jump in the s124.

I changed a plate on a car last year and the new V5 didn't register another owner. Was it different in the past?

Vendor is claiming it was £8995. Once the price slide begins it can be tempting to keep waiting for further reductions!

His line "Full oil pressure at all times when running the engine, even at idle." is concerning. When the engine is hot the pressure needle ought to drop as the oil gets thinner, but hitting maximum when accelerator is pressed.

Replacement of headlining suggest the sunroof was leaking, which further implies good chance of rust in a very fiddly place to correct.

That said, it's a late 560 in what will probably be seen by most as one of the best colour combinations and what appears to have much recent expenditure: "lots of new chrome parts" will have been expensive. Not many decent ones left and cheaper, long term, to buy one with the work done than attempt to bring a rougher one up to shape.

I've had a couple of 560's and the headliners go of their own accord, much like the ones in old Range Rovers, the glue seemed to have a natural lifespan.

If it isn't rotten I think around £6K isn't unreasonable at all. It would have already gone if it was darn sarf.

It's an odd item to go. I've had a number of 80s Mercedes including both w126 and w123 and never a headling issue (all had sunroofs).

Agree re £6k as a reasonable figure. Prices are heading north (at last). A trader has increased the price of his 500SEC on Autotrader in the time he has has tried (unsuccessfully) to flog it!

I did wonder that but didn't know well enough to know!

I prefer the Pentas anyway.

Happy days!!

Not sure I would part with mine though, although I was starting to think the other day, when I have finished restoring mine, maybe its time for a 911:D

Matt, a 911? Your timing is...shall we say rather poor when it comes to pricing. Don't get me wrong I do understand the appeal alright.

This 964 for example I'm reliably informed was sold in less than 12 hrs for just shy of £thirty big one's. I'm under the impression it was back in the Shires rather pronto too.
