69 VW Bus restoration - lots of pics

Few more pics of my bus. It is getting there. Shoudln't be too long before I get it back

My bus has had 24 litres of paint...

To mask my bus up took 6 hours...

Stuart and Drew worked Saturday to get my bus painted. This is 4 hours worth or work and 4 coats of paint.

Don't worry the guy in the reflaction doesn't come with the bus

Hopefully these are the last shots of poppy in the booth. Arches and other places that have been welded are all sealed. Rear drums painted, steering column, pedals etc etc all painted.

Anyway look at the finish - I am still a happy bunny.

I bought a new engine for my bus, ran it for 750 miles and it seized. about 9 months later I was sent a replacement which I put on a stand in my garage while my bus went to be restored. I thought I would get my local specialist to split the case and check it out and replace anything that was not 100%. Turns out it was basically scrap.

I did think that I would end up having to stump up for a new motor and take the legal route but I have managed to get my money back.

So I have just ordered a new 2161CC stroker motor, lots of torque and a decent amount of power. Just waiting for a date when it will be built.

Bus should come back to me next week after le Mans, then I need to rebuild it and try to enjoy it this year. Come rain or shine I will be out and about in it.

Really enjoying the thread! There is a VW fest at Malvern in Worcestershire. So if you want to show yours off (next year) that's the place to go! I'll come and look at it!

Been a while since I updated this thread. I now have poppy home with me and I am very happy. She was delivered back to me on friday. I've been away this weekend so haven;t managed to get much done.
