722.9 7G Transmission oil change (My 2008 eclass Cdi 7 speed auto)

Would love a copy of the document if you still have it :-)

Document request

Hi,

I will like a copy of the document and photos you created for changing transmission oil. My email address is: [email protected]

Regards,

Hi Wadeyblue, excellent write-up, any chance of mailing me the full report with pics?

Has anybody received a copy of this write up?? If they have it I will host it and provide a link for everyone

Used this guide to change the ATF and filter on our C320 Cdi yesterday.
Only problem was that on our model the torque converter did not have a drain plug!
This meant that a few litres of old ATF was left sloshing about in the system...
...never mind the main thing was to get the filter changed and some new ATF in the system.
A good job made easy by using an inspection pit in my barn :-)

Thank you.

Thank you so much Wadeyblue.
I searched everywhere and every other transmission oil change used the dipstick tube via the engine compartment.
I looked around the engine comp and couldn't find any tube. None of the other sites showed that type of auto box oil change.
I live in France and it's virtually impossible to get an MB Indie and the stealership charge you plenty but never do the job properly.

Would like to have the full download of the oil change you described but don't know how to get it without breaching the clubs rules.

Hi, I'm a new member to the forum and I used Wadeyblue's guide (thanks!) to carry out a full oil change to my 722.9 W211 transmission and torque convertor. I was very pleased with how easy it was to work on my (new to me) Mercedes E280 Cdi estate and the entire job was done in under a couple of hours. My car has covered 82,000 miles now and this is the second time the transmission oil has been changed (three lots of oil if you include the factory fill) but possibly the first time the torque convertor has been drained. The transmission is noticeably shooter and changes are quicker. I'd highly recommend it. I used a converted (Screwfix) £6.99 7l garden pump sprayer to pump the oil in with the M12x1.5 filler adapter. I noticed the rear is the sump pan was cooler than the front so I took four IR readings to get an average of 45°C across the sump. Reassuringly, I got 8l out and 8l back in. One observation is the crank nut on my car is a 27mm nut.

Just finished this oil change at the weekend.

Very messy , but can be done in a short day (including tea breaks).

Using an electric oil change pump made the refilling so much easier, £25 well spent.

No special tools required except maybe a no-contact thermometer at about £10 on ebay.

Much smoother changes now and no worries (hopefully) for the next 40,000 miles.

Had my 211 done at an Indy about 3 years ago, from memory about £200

Well I have never changed the ATF myself,to me the auto box is a very expensive bit of kit so I leave it to people like Prestige, for £200 pounds efvery 45,000 miles it is cheap and you have peace of mind that it has been done properly
