'94 R129 - immobile passenger seat & central locking

I'll have a look in the passenger seat; it may just be a poor connection (he said hopefully, but not expectantly...). If it's there, and wiggling things doesn't work, I'll see if there's one in the driver's seat; if there is, I'll swap them over and see what happens. More anon.

The driver's seat works perfectly, and always has. There are definitely two control units, because Billy Bodger had been there before me too; all the connectors were disconnected from the control unit in the passenger seat! Reconnect everything, and the fault is evident - the motor which raises and lowers the rear of the seat makes a nasty clicking/graunching sound. Set it at what seems a reasonable height, then disconnect the relevant connector -actually the first I tried, the furthest back - and the seat's other functions are fine. I can live with that.

Two small surprises.

Firstly, the seat cushion is held at the front by two 10mm-head sheet metal bolts, not large cross-head screws. I couldn't get a view of the area, and lost some time groping around with screwdrivers, then cross-checking with YouTube, then groping around again, but it came good eventually. Awkward little blighters to get back in, though.

Secondly, though the seat cushion had a connector for the heating element, there was no corresponding connector floating around loose under the seat.

Right, that's the seat sorted, and the central locking. Getting there more and more...
