As title. My W208 is in bits its having a resto and i have one sticking point...

98' W208 CLK rear head rest removal

C'mon then whats the secret?

I have been scratching my head about this.

its all apart bar the head rest (for some extra sound proofing) and i would like to change the Mercedes Subs for something else.

looks like the whole headrest should slide out but i see no clips or securing fixings holding the headrest into the fold flat assembley

one side has a black clip which moves but does nowt!!

i'm starting to thing some sod has glued it in before.....

Any ideas?

are the pins in the rest not serrated, push in the black clip and lift up!

maybe the clip is broken which clears the cut/seration in the pins

On the 202's you have to remove the black covers around the holes the headrests go into and in there you will see a white clip that if you push with a screwdriver will release the headrest. Do this on both sides to of each headrest and it will release and come out. Not sure if same on the 208...

Thanks for the input chaps

I found a post which says the same on a lesser forum.
I really do think someone broke it and glued it in place years ago...

I think the rear headrest should move once the black clip is moved but it won't budge, i'm at is again tomorrow after work, good job i like driving my little van lol...

the trick is the rear head rest has to be unlocked or lowered.
push the button to drop the rear headrests.

lift the finishers off, that cover where the headrest passes through the parcel shelf and you will see a white plastic mount with a black clip.

then lift the headrest up until it touches the latching mechanism but not clipped upright. move the arm bit of the clip about 45degrees, this lifts a basic u shaped spring out from a groove in the leg of the headrest, repeat on the other headrest leg and the it will slide out.

simples

when u know how.....
