about to buy slk320

hello people - i'm about to check out and possibly buy this car from mercedes-benz direct in the next couple of days:

it's a 2003 320slk, looks nice, costs a lot but isn't so bad as a part-exchange.

before i go ahead, i thought i'd ask your opinion on the mercedes-benz direct dealership (any bad / good experiences?), and just see if you are all generally happy with your slk's, and if there are any specific things i ought to look out for when i check out the car.

Their prices don't look too bad!

Check the ownership and service history. Look for wear in all the usual places but that age and mileage and it should still look like new. Mine does and I've just done 15k.

Make sure there's no kerbing and watch the aliens come out and retract as they should. One of mine wouldn't retract easily fixed though.

Check the hood goes down and up smoothly and that the boot still opens smoothly with the hood down and then back up again. Other than that - it should go a dream - should be loosening up now. Kick down should engage sharply and cleanly if you floor the accelerator, and there should be no pull when braking hard either.

cool, thanks for the advice. i'm glad you think the prices aren't too bad, that makes me feel a bit better..

My SLK didn't come with aliens, was it an option?

Pammy is also known to frequent the TT Forum...there they refer to the headlamp washers as "aliens"......
