Has anyone had a good quote on 2+ cars just done the Aston & jag came to £2700

For comparison the Jag is £750 with Aviva and the Aston £450 with Hagarty

I was hoping to get the Jag for £600 but they said its one off top grouping

I am far form convinced with Admiral Multicar, they have quoted me a couple of times and it doesn't come out very competitive. I have been far better off having my full NCB 'mirrored' on another policy to get the best quotes. Aviva have always come out on top for me.

Same as any company. Good for some cars rubbish for others. We have a multicar policy for the Ford we have and a classic mini, cheaper than two policies and I shopped about. However, adding on my Subaru (at the time) got a mental quote off them.

Aston is pretty specialist. I think its aimed at the family with a fiesta and a mondeo.

Im happy with £750 for the Jag and I dont need to fit a tracker (the Aston doesnt need one either, merseyside must be coming up in the world)

Admiral Multicar was just the best for me in 2008, with Aviva 2nd best, when I was insuring 2 cars - at the time that was Volvo S80 D5 and Grand Scenic. During that year I added a 3rd car - daughter's Punto and she earned a whole year's no-claims in the 7 months she was on the policy.

Last year Aviva won by about £150 overall with total premiums in region of £1500.

This year Aviva's renewal (now have different cars - S320, SLK 200K and the Punto, so not strictly comparable to last year) was £1650. This was the closest competition to Admiral whose quote was just short of £1000. Saving over £650. I did try other companies as well and Aviva were well inside them.

I am now just about to put another car on the policy - old Audii Allroad as my "dirty" car. With no no claims Admiral quoted £285 for just over 11 months, which I thought was pretty good. It got better when I was told I also get a discount on the 3 cars already on the policy - £160 :D. Net to pay £125.

It has got me thinking - why isn't no claims a personal thing - why can't I get no claims discount on two or more cars? I can't drive more than 1 car at a time.

Hi,

I have my business use daily driver - an old C280 - with Directline at £500 and my S500 Coupe with Peter Best at £285 per year.

try classic policy from footman james multicar or peter best if yr car qualify as classic then u cannot beat the agreed value clause with classic insurance as agreed means just and they payout

Admiral multicar for Boxster RS60 and CLS 55 is great -- for both, it was £1485.

Everyone else was at least £2500

My CLS was always £650 or so on open commuting policy, The Aston is restricted use at £450 ish

Tried Admiral multicar last weekend. They were keen to have the other two cars moved over on their renewal dates. Apart from being fairly complicated I could not guarantee that I would move. Then I saw they were more expensive on the other 2 cars anyway. So I stuck with Direct line where I already have a multi car policy.

I learnt a few things this weekend which I'll share:-

1. The postman always rings twice. You can get a cheaper quote fom the same insurer online by going back in a few days.
2. Quotes can go up in the same week with the same details if the end of the month straddles one week i.e if the 31st is on Tuesday and the 3rd falls on Friday, a new month can result in revised charges.
3. There are some sharp practices. You get a quote on line and you ring up ready to go. They read it all back to you and come up with some new questions not on their online questionnaire. Do you have dependent children under 16?
(How the blank@"*{¬ can you have children under 16 who are not dependent on you)? Then the clincher..you are more likely to have an accident with them in the back...another £76 please! Fume fume!
4. Always thought it was safer to declare that my car is locked in my garage at night. Noo!
If something happens to the house whilst the car is locked in the garage the car will be affected they said. So cheaper to park in the street. Defies logic. Wonder if the SL will be cheaper to insure parked in the street.
And the car to give all this grief? A lowly VW Polo 1.4 tdi for my daughter to drive.
Her passing her test coincided with the Micra Dci blowing an engine on the motorway (different story) so we upgraded to a VW. Nice car though.

Although Admiral call their product 'Multicar' it's really only a means to aggregate upto 5 'standard' cars at a single address and give a discount.

Great for some people but not for others!

I can't get any of the multi car type policies to work for me at all, 4 cars in our household and 2 drivers, so they can't ever all be on the road at the same time. Last quote I had from Admiral was last month

Cars

Mercedes CLK 230K with declared Brabus Upgrades
Audi A8 Sport 4.2 Quattro
Volvo V50 1.6d SE Premium Lux
Subaru Impreza Sti

Admiral quote £2127

Insured separately

Mercedes CLK 230K with declared Brabus Upgrades = £139 (limited miles <6k / year)
Audi A8 Sport 4.2 Quattro = £329 including commute & Business use, no mileage restriction
Volvo V50 1.6d SE Premium Lux = £384 including commute & Business use, no mileage restriction
Subaru Impreza Sti = £226 (limited miles <2.5k /year)

Saving a MASSIVE £1049 per year

Tell me how good Multi car policies are again :D

I have a Admiral Multicar policy as I have 3 cars.
Last year was £700 for all 3, this years renewal was £840 !
So I went on Money Supermarket to shop around to see if I could get a better quote.
Admiral came tops on all 3 cars individually at a total of £720 so I rang up the renewal line and complained about my quote, so they matched the price.
Without checking it out admiral would have gained an extra £120 - Apathy tax !

i often find that the renewal quote with the same company is bettered by going through a comparison site. Agree that this is an apathy tax.

Did Admiral multi car for a few years in 07/08 but then found I got cheaper quotes separately. No longer with Admiral but would use again if they came within a few quid of the cheapest.

My father-in-law is a nightmare at just renewing without checking or shopping around - he must lose a fortune over the years...

We have multicar and we have been very pleased - e250cdi 59 plate for £280 fully comp 10k miles commuting etc...

Best without for £320.
