Advice from C63 owners needed

Yeah. That's the one. I would have pulled the trigger if they dropped to 38k, but not sure whether that's realistic or not. I've seen people here getting massive discounts so didn't think it was too unrealistic.

What's included in driver's pack? I know there's the track day thing, but obviously that's not valid now.

Hmm... some people's negativity is now making think twice about getting this car. What else is there in this price range.... RS5/M3...
RS5 is supposedly not that great to drive and M3 looks bit bland inside and out.

It's been up for a while so I would definitely try and get a discount. The only problem is if you are not financing it they are not going to really make a packet and it is harder to get a price reduction albeit not impossible.

Although I have driven a C63 I am not currently in a position to buy one if I were I would buy rather than lease for similar reasons to yours.

The Drivers pack has the top speed removed from 155mph to 174mph I believe.

As for the negative comments don't let that sway you as it is each to his own and I believe there are far more positive comments about the C63 which is my all time favourite motor.

I suggest you go for a test drive and give it a few more weeks before making your decision as 1. The price may drop by then and 2. Another similar spec may appear by at a cheaper price.

I must admit that my estate that I've had for 18 months and done 20K miles in has lost a bit of it's appeal lately. However that was rekindled this weekend on an AMG run on Sunday morning. Really made me appreciate the car again.
Leasing can, I suppose, be a very attractive option. Whatever you do make sure you do it for you!

If I buy with cash, I'm not really parting with 40k. I can always sell the car and get money back (less depreciation).

Please feel free to enlighten me!

I am of the same mind as you, I like to own all my cars, but I do understand that leasing works for many people.

I think the lease thing (technically less depreciation) works better for a brand new C63.

Thanks for all the kind advices guys.
I may have to go and have a look at the car again at the local dealership. Not sure whether they even have a car I can test drive as I'm in Aberdeen where cars such as these are quite scarce.

^there have been a few of us.

You are in the minority, most c63 owners adore the car plenty have test driven astons porsches etc and gone ahead with the purchase of a c63.

The c63 for sale in the link has been up for sale for quite some time.

There have been a few on here alone - me, mr fix, seven - that have admitted to maybe being wooed by the deal or the Thought of owning it. No doubt they are a great test drive (hell it made me buy one!) but I do wonder how many really love them if they are a) honest ( on a car forum dedicated to the brand how many would suggest not loving the amg!?) and b) not standing by what was an extraordinarily good lease deal.

I suppose the proof will be in how many are flooded onto the market rather than leases extended or purchased outright.

Oh and I too test drove a fair few things as named. But ultimately 500 PCM swung it for me which is why I say I just don't love it rather than its a bad car. It isn't. It just isn't very special in non black series form. I envisage it would feel a lot more special with a cage and SLS bits.

Op - if an rs5 is on your list then you are considering coupes in general. Lots of fun cars to try. Have fun and find one that works for you - I really recommend a weekend loan if you can get it.

I would feel too obligated to commit if I got a weekend loan.

When I was negotiating on the car I mentioned above, the lady I was talking to became quite rude as soon as she realised I wasn't buying at the list price and started blabbing on about how they don't have enough margin on these cars to be dropping price on them. All in all, I wasn't too impressed with the customer service considering I was looking to spend £40k with them.

Oh well, their loss. It will sit on their yard just costing them money.

What sort of idiot pays list price pfft.

Hmm.. I was thinking of buying used outright. I don't really want to switch cars often so not sure leasing is for me.

I agree with your thoughts.

Regarding the Designo car, dealers often price them very high waiting for the right customer. If it's exactly what you want go for it, but beware, when you come to sell you will probably lose all the additional cost.

The new A45 AMG?

It's a good car if it's big enough for you.

Terrible position to take, but not uncommon I am afraid. When you are buying something you need to be comfortable with making a decision you are happy with at least at that time. Awful to not even give you 24hrs in it. Mercedes Chelsea did for me, if that helps telling them. I couldn't get an estate but had a saloon for 24 hrs.

re finance or outright. I have done both and don't view them as mutually exclusive. Do what is best for you and good luck with your search. Whilst a few of us are down on the car, it is only because the early experiences of them were so high we lived them implicitly.

Ultimately, there is only so upset you can get with a 450 bhp small estate.

Good luck with your search - if you wait 6 months mine will re-enter the dealer network (and it has the grey and red graphics and not the awful brown!) :thumb::thumb:

If it helps I had my c63 for a year and liked it as much the day I got rid of it as the day I picked it up. I have had similar types of cars and more exotic one and over 14,000m I never regretted once.

Happy hunting.

I owned an E92 4.0 V8 M3 for 3 years before I went sensible with the current C class. It's a great car and the handling is superb. It's not a complete beast like the C63 and is definitely looking dated inside but no harm in test driving one? If you do test drive one go for a car with the EDC option.

Good luck with it.

I bought mine and there is not a day goes bye that it does not put a smile on my face.
People turn and look and give me the thumbs up when you cruise past and point and smile when they see the 6.3 badge. My mate has a M3 and if i am in the passenger seat i see people making the W***er gesture......His M3 is mint but it just seems tarnished with a stigma.
If you can afford it buy it......then its yours to tune and play with as much as you like.....
