advice needed.

whilst driving somewhere today my brother insisted on using his sat-nav. he proceeded and plugged it into the ashtray, however he was so heavy handed he has displaced it and now it won't close. do i need to take the whole dashboard out to repair this or is there any tips anyone can give me to bypass this?

If there isn’t anything jammed in the ashtray preventing its closure then its possible that some part of the opening mechanism has become loose or broken, below is the way into the ashtray.

If you decide to take it apart do it over a towel on top of the kitchen table as there are some fiddly bits inside that can drop out.

Most lightly the ashtray got dislodged from the hinge mechanism... Remove the ashtray and see if anything got bent!! You might have to remove the two ashtray screws as show in the picture, but shouldn't have to as cleaning it is easy.
