Hi all - I'm considering a W221 S-class (made 2006-2013), petrol or diesel I'm not bothered.

What do I need to look out for when buying a car like this please?

Bump!

Just a thought too, if there's bits missing from it (I understand there's a remote control etc. etc.) can these be bought separately?

From what I have read, biggest thing with these is finding one that hasn’t been a private hire vehicle for part or all of its life and/or has mileage discrepancy.

You can spot it in some ads a mile off where the rear seats are worn but others will be more difficult to detect I suspect.

Seem to be much more robust than the W220.

The tuner amp in the boot is a common source of failure. Its about £1500 to replace. Make sure you can hear sound from the audio system and you can see radio stations on the comand screen. Test this with the car warm, cold and after a while of driving as the fault can be intermittent.

I understand that the 3 litre desiel is prone to an oil leak which can be horrendously expensive to repair.

Are they easy to clock?? :/
