Age of MB Drivers.....

I think Merc's generally have an older ownership than most brands but it's all about what you enjoy

Probably older people have MB, as they have paid the mortgage and the kids have moved out, and someone in the 40's or 50's is probably earning a decent salary and can afford to run more premium brands.

Younger people tend to have other priorities like buying a house, finding a job and a wife, have kids etc and have less disposable income.

All of these are valid points, but i think the "more expensive the car, the older the driver" argument is a bit oversimplistic here. If that was the case then other brands like Audi and bmw would have the same image.

There are many younger people who could choose to drive a merc if they wanted to.. But many don't. I think this has something to do with who the cars are marketed at. Also, i think the way Mercedes cars look has a lot to do with it. Many younger people like the bolder styling of other cars which they might consider "cooler". But things are changing now with young people choosing the new A class and CLA.

Defo an image problem for Mercedes.

I'm 43 and friends take the piss out of me for having a "silvertop" car (old man's car). And mine's an E63!

I'm 28 and had my C63 for 4 months absolutely love it switched from a BMW wish id of done it sooner!

26 c63. Had a e60 m5, m3 rs4, Evo 7(500bhp) before this. The c63 is by far my favourite car so far

I bought my C300 Hybrid for my 40th birthday. Not your typical mid-life crisis car, uh? ;-)

I don't think this is down to cost, more brand and image. Audi and BMW attract a much younger crowd and are similarly priced marques. When I had a company car, lots of colleagues (my age and younger) had the choice of any marque and the vast majority seemed to go for Audi.

Mercedes do seem to be taking note that they need to attract a younger crowd. For example, 'old man grille' has now been dropped on all but the S-Class in the UK.

34 myself. First Merc I've owned but drove a few family cars before (W124, W140). Could have got one years ago - money wasn't the issue but none of them within reach particularly appealed to me.

Just turned 29. My friends and family say I am 29 going on 98 with my S Class. My answer is - 'this is no ordinary S Class' :)
