Air Con Mystery W202

When first starting the car the air con works fine. After switching off ignition and starting again, the fan does not work. The air that comes in naturally as I'm driving is still being cooled by the air con, but blower won't work. The fan usally starts again on it's own after 10-30 mins. Has anyone suffered the same problem and more importantly, know how to fix it?

Yes, both myself and Shude have had this same problem. The brushes in the fan motor are worn down, usually driving over a pothole gets it going again. Not an easy fix as you cannot buy the brushes, need a whole new fan at around £125.

If you have ever changed the pollen filter, located above the passenger side footwell, you will have seen the fan located there. I suppose that access could be worse, but it still a job for gymnasts and yoga fans.
