Hi my E220d is due a B Service. Mercedes are saying they want to change the air and fuel filters at a cost of £180.00 despite both having been replaced less than 16000 mile ago, Do i need to?

When where these filters last changed? I believe that they are due every xxxx miles OR 4 years, whichever comes first.

Hi Markjay, thanks for your reply. They were fitted in a service in June 2022

Yes get then done ..if Mercedes is to dear, then try an another garage .Just as long as Mercedes parts are used ..
It's not that they are too dear, it's just that I can't see the need for replacement after only 15500 miles. I will buy an air filter element, (Mercedes part) on line and fit it myself and wait until next service to replace the fuel filter. I only do around 5000 miles each year.

That why my discs have lasted so long. The car is not used ...can you look at the disc through the alloy wheel ? And if they are worn , you will see a ridge on the edge of the disc, thats highr than the rest

If I am correct and the recommended change interval for your car is indeed 40,000 or 4 years, then the filters are not due yet anyway...

Trying it on, comes to mind.

It depends... is the previous filter change logged in the Digital Service Book (DSB)? Or did you get it done by a garage that didn't have access to the DSB?

In their defence, the dealers can only go by what's logged in the DSB.

The car has always been serviced by the main supplying dealer, a full MBSH is available.

£180 for air filter and fuel filter replacement seems extortionate

I'm not surprised. My air filter is about 60€ for aftermarket Mann Filter. And the fuel filter's not far short of 100€ for genuine MB and that was some time ago.
