Hi to you all again , does any one know of a how to link to change the AIR MASS MAF SENSOR on a w211 2002 270cdi e class please.Thankyou in advance.

It is just before the air filter. Very straight forward.

These are the mpg figures (see below)on average I do, are these ok or could they be improved with air maf mas sensor change and poss thermostat change .
Fuel consumption (urban) 26.7 mpg
Fuel consumption (extra urban) 44.1 mpg
Fuel consumption (combined) 35.8 mpg
thanks sil

What is the running temp?

I will have to monitor it tomorrow, will be driving car for most of 5 hours so will note temp gauge and report back thanks.

Hi ran car for aprox 6 hours today for 2 hours at 40degrees and most of day stayed at 55 to 60degrees never higher. Is this about right. Sil

Nope. Get the thermostat changed firstly. You are running very cool.

I will change thermostat first, quoted £42.80 inc vat from bolton dealer seems reasonable, and then see how I go on from there.
Thanks for your help as always, Silvano

Hi Olly ,I have the air mas maf sensor and will be fitting this on tuesday.Once new part is fitted do I need to reset anything or do I just turn ignition on and the new part functions. Thanks for your help thus far silvano

i think you may have to run the engine a little while say 20 miles so the ECU can adjust itself correctly.

Olly would be able to advise for sure.

Its plug and play. No re-setting needed no running for 20mins etc etc.

Locking and unlocking the car will do the trick.

lol

It will not do anything at all. It is a bit weird he suggested that.

The engine control unit will self adapt instantly.

But, I did some welding on the car a couple of months ago.

Disconnected battery and main modules.

When finished, reconnected battery, several warnings flashed up, ABS
ESP etc. This happened when the engine was started...twice.

So, remembering what my indie said, I got out, locked and unlocked the car, got back in, started car, all warnings gone.

So, go figure. ;)

That is odd.

All you needed to do was to turn the steering full lock a couple of turns.
