Airbag compatibility - CLK320 (W209)

Hi Everyone,

I have a 54 plate CLK320 (W209).

Need a new driver's airbag and clockspring, but do not want to pay £600+ from MB.

Re the airbag, does anyone know if all similar ones are fully compatible, as they all look identical but have slightly different part numbers? I have seen several sold on ebay which look the same and are listed as fitting CLK, CLS, E class, etc. - wanted to know if there are any subtle differences which mean some may not fit all models?

US airbags are different to EU airbags , so yes part numbers are important - you need to at least get one for the right options codes for your car.

Also, there are lots of different finishes (leather, plastic, lots of colours)

What colour is your airbag ?

thanks for the response. Mine is charcoal/black, colour code 7241 (i.e. last 4 digits of part no.)

how do i tell a us from an eu part - i'm guessing unlikely someonein the uk is selling a US one?

Follow up question re airbag:

have found one on ebay with the correct part no. so i think it should be OK, however seller states it is "US Version" - is that the one compatible with UK models or should it be a European one - I assume this would have a different code?
