My 3-week C63 'drought' is over , I finally picked the car up (again!) from AMG yesterday after they transformed the interior of my car.

After owning a BMW M6 which had a full-leather dash option (and was absolutely stunning inside,) I knew that I really could make the C63 a special car by taking advantage of AMG's official Performance Studio facility where they'll pretty much trim your car in any way you want!

I appreciate that this won't be to everyone's taste, especially if you're a fan of black interiors (which, to be honest, I'm fed up of!) but this really is one of the most special interiors that I'll probably ever have the pleasure of owning and one that I can say I now prefer to my previous M6.

Whilst there, I also chose to improve a couple of very minor 'details' on the interior. Firstly, I had the cheap plastic door locking pins changed to metal AMG branded ones. I also had the plastic Mercedes star on top of the gearlever changed to a laser-etched metal AMG Affalterbach one - this really does look and feel stunning in real life! Little details, but they've absolutely delighted me!

After getting up at 4am to get the (cheap!) flight to Stuttgart, I spent a few hours following the missus round the shops in the city whilst they finished the car which I finally picked it up at 3pm. To say I'm not in rush to repeat that drive home so late in the day is an understatement...the Friday evening traffic on the German autobahn meant I spent far too long stood still rather than sitting on the C63's limiter....although my decision to stop for an hour to wait for the rush hour to end worked very well as it created the opportunity for a few 150mph+ runs :D

I was then pulled into the customs search area at Dover where I wasted another hour of my life. They couldn't comprehend what I had done, why we had no luggage and ultimately treated my very suspiciously!

In the end didn't get to bed until 3am this morning!

Here is the front of my car this morning.....I best clean it up before the GTG tomorrow!

That looks very nice, but I've always thought that at the best part of £60,000 once you've added a few options this should all be standard on what is a premium model of a premium brand. After all the C63 is a premium of some £20,000 over the next model down (the not poorly equipped C350).

For £20,000 you don't think they should provide a higher quality interior?

Very nice though.

The money goes on that hand-assembed engine I would imagine! - but yes, the interior isn't great for a to-end car - especially compared to the M6 which is a great interior!

Looks really nice mate - and good move getting rid of the little plastic locking pin things - they do look **** - even on my lowly C220CDi sport - it's the little details that make it special to get into in the morning!

Essentially you are paying for the 6200cc V8 with the extra £20k, along with different alloys and seats

Very very nice indeed, bud!

Interior's great!
The finish is great.

Love the door pins. Just fitted those to mine too.
When I opened the little boxes, I thought AMG had used spent WWII rifle shells!
LOL

I see what you mean about the bugs now!
Sheeeesh!

Thanks for the update, Palmball. I think it looks positively stunning! You must be extremely pleased.

Ever since I saw KLP's 126 SEC interior with a stitched leather dash, I've loved the details, and yours is simply magnificent.

And now it's on to the performance upgrades and a derestriction, yes? :D

Wow.. when u compare the two side by side, what a difference!

kinda makes the original one you picked up look pathetic.. lol

congrats again!

Yes, 100% totally agree...that standard interior is not really good enough when you start getting into mid £60k's. However, it's no worse (and a lot better built) than my e92 M3 which was nearly as much money (and depreciated at an almost alarming rate!)

I only spent so much specifying this C63 to get it exactly how I wanted because I knew I could do this to the interior....before I committed to buying the car I made sure I budgeted for it appropriately.

I never saw the pins before they were fitted - they really are like bullets!

The bugs - just been working on them and I'm having issues!

Firstly, I now have a hole in my lower grill  - the black bit between the fog lights. I hope this can be replaced separately from the bumper but I guess something must have gone through it at some speed!

Secondly, I have Paintshield film on my front bumper and whilst this has totally stopped any stone chips, it is now 'stained' with the (blood from?) the bugs and it won't wash off. You can't see from a distance but 'I' can tell....I'll try and polish it off and see if that works.

I really don't like these stone chip protection products....you've got to be so careful not to damage the edges (or else they lift), they get grime around the edges very easily, they give the bumper a very slightly different colour (on a white car) and now I see that they stain easily! But....they do stop stone chips! Is this the lesser of two evils? I'm not decided on that one yet!

Yep...but I've bottled it on the Kleeman (just too worried about the warranty) so I have bitten the bullet and gone for the Brabus in the end :wallbash:

Also, the Brabus is the only one that can be updated through the OBD port...I'm not an expert on these things but all the others such as DMS and Kleeman have to have the ECU itself modified, so it really does seem that only Brabus have the correct and MB authorised access to do the job properly?? I'm sure someone can advise with some accuracy on this point though.

It's gets fitted in a couple of weeks by MB Milton Keynes...then the KW Coilvers are done a week later (which I am praying that I like) :D

OMG, I never considered doing this .....and as I haven't looked at those pics since I got my car back, I sort of 'forgot' what it was like before.

Yes...it looks massively different and I'm very happy!

Paint guards are welllllllllll a personal thing.

Personally I'd pull it off and live with the possible chips as when you polish your car your pride and joy the guard itself can be more annoying than a small chip!

Then get the front resprayed every now and then.

My 911 was a pain and everyone knows the problem so they know they have during there lives been resprayed.

Re: Bug Blood on the film.

I've found with a film, you can apply a little more pressure, using a string or "bug" sponge, and that will remove any traces of bugs. Because of the film, there's no chance of damaging the paint.

I find that soaking the little bodies, using a microfibre and a good detailing spray, works wonders.
Hold the damp MF against each corpse for a few moments to soften it up and then simply wipe away.

The last time I used water to clean my car was around last October.

Detailing sprays are definately the way forward.

That way, you never really need to get water anywhere near your car.
Thus vastly reducing the risk of any corrosion in those little places/ creases that you never see.

Very nice interior!!! Please post many more pictures from all angles!

Great looking C63.

Yes i bought the metal AMG Pins for the CL which are much better than the plastic ones.

The same colour combination as the S-Class i to was fed up with all black interior, it's a good contrast especially with the Piano Black wood.

Looks superb! I too am not a great fan of all black plastic interiors, and that has been done beautifully.

Stuttgart is a bugger in rush hour....

OK so where can I get those pins and gearknob then?

The dash looks stunning!
