Sure no problem, whats your user name in the AMG Lounge (if different)? Mine is T_E63AMG.

I think I've seen Liwi in there too.

T.

Same as here :-)

Do AMG aficionados prefer Twiglets, Bombay Mix, Mini Cheddars or cashews for nibbles ?

Manzanilla olives, Jabugo ham, anchoiade, or mini cones of raw tuna Wolfgang Puck for me.

But not in a lounge..

Ive registered as have several others from the Uk
it seems a well organised forum
plenty of info on AMGs and an appreciation of non AMGs also

there was an evaluation from the admins a little while ago to see if they could set one up in here but alas it wasnt possible

with all the new C63 drivers it might be worth another try ( message to admins:) )

the other forum whilst initially gives the impression of being elitist ( you need to enter your VIN, blood group, star sign and next of kin:rolleyes: )
is a very friendly and extensive site

well spotted Kamal :thumb:

This looks like an AMG owner forum starting off (but could be a good one)

It has a factory write uo for ever AMG model - This is the one for the C36 AMG

C 36 AMG '94 -'98

Overview

The first jointly developed vehicle from Mercedes-Benz and AMG

In 1990 Mercedes-Benz and AMG agreed on a partnership that extended the one existing in Motorsports since 1988. With this agreement, the two companies wanted to bundle their powers and jointly develop vehicles that would outperform everything seen so far. The C 36 AMG was the first vehicle introduced to the market as a joint production and combined the skills and knowledge of both companies to an unbelievable high-end sports car.

As AMG still was a car refiner in 1993, the C 36 AMG is based on the sport version of the Mercedes-Benz C 280. Though the 2.8-liter straight-6 engine already offered the characteristics of a high-end sports car, AMG further improved the vehicle's performance. Several fundamental enhancements were necessary before the car was allowed to bear the three letters standing for high-performance, high-quality and luxurious comfort ever since - AMG. The C 36 AMG impressively continued this tradition, as was proven with a quick glimpse at the performance characteristics of this new compact sports car.

Performance

Even though most of the engine was re-vamped, the most evident sign is the huge displacement that rose from 2799 cc to a total of 3606 cc. The enhanced AMG 3.6-liter straight-6 engine delivers 276 hp at 5750 rpm compared to 194 hp of the basic engine. Peak torque rose from 195 lb-ft from 3000-4800 rpm to 284 lb-ft from 4000-4750 rpm. With 221 lb-ft of torque available at 1500 rpm, the car accelerates from 0-60 mph in as little as 6.5 seconds and reaches a maximum speed of 155 mph (electronically limited). To reach such performance levels, the engineers at AMG had to apply all the knowledge gathered during their long commitment in motorsport. As this is not enough to improve an engine's performance, both bore and stroke were increased from initially 3.54 in x 2.89 in to 3.58 in x 3.64 in. This propagated the unbelievable torque that is available almost over the whole performance range.

To further improve the vehicle's performance, a high-precision crankshaft in combination with forged aluminum pistons was used. That not only guarantees extraordinary rigidity and minimized friction, but also reduces weight to a minimum. Additionally, the valves, camshaft and conrods were replaced. Besides the enhanced performance temperature development increased as well. Consequently, to provide optimal cooling for the pistons, additional oil spray nozzles were installed.

Last but not least, the engine management system was fine tuned by the AMG technicians, to guarantee an optimal cylinder charging and engine control.

All modifications were done by hand and subsequently guarantee for the highest-possible quality and precision, and all enhancements were controlled and checked at AMG's own test bench after completion.

Exterior

As with all vehicles from AMG, just improving an engine's performance never was enough for the technicians in Affalterbach. Since they embark on a holistic approach of vehicle enhancement they also reshaped the exterior of the Mercedes-Benz C 280 before they plugged their badges on the chassis.

Subsequently, the C 36 AMG features the distinguishable AMG front apron with integrated fog lamps as well as an AMG-specific rear apron. In combination with the side skirts, painted in body color, these new parts harmoniously blend into the overall appearance, giving the car not only a much sportier look, but also enhanced its aerodynamics. The muscular look of the C 36 AMG is additionally underlined by the lower bodywork, which could be realized due to the new, firmer AMG sports suspension. That way fast cornering with lower body roll is possible. To even increase the sporty driving pleasure, the C 36 AMG was equipped with special 17-inches AMG alloy wheels with 225/45 ZR 17 tires in the front and 245/40 ZR 17 tires in the rear respectively. These tires make for an optimized power transfer from the engine to the street and additionally guarantee perfect road contact. Behind the big rims lurk the high-performance brakes, the same as is used in the bigger V8 models. The four internally ventilated brake discs measure 11.34 in. on the front and 10.94 in. in the rear respectively and are grabbed by four-piston brake calipers. Due to the low overall weight of the C 36 AMG and the high-end material used for the brakes they offer optimal deceleration as well as perfect handling in critical situations.

To round off the overall athletic appearance the C 36 AMG features an AMG exhaust system with a chromed twin-tailpipe that is stylishly integrated into the rear apron. In combination with several chrome exterior trims, the C 36 AMG sets new standards in its Class.

Interior

Here is where "personification" was defined. In the interior of the C 36 AMG, everything was handmade by the specialists at AMG in Affalterbach, and thus varied from car to car. However, despite being tailored to the individual wishes of the customers, all materials used were carefully chosen, since all vehicles had to comply with the typical Mercedes-Benz values - sportiness, comfort and exclusivity.

Technology

Another novelty in a super sports car is the 4-speed automatic transmission (5-speed automatic transmission from 1996). All sporty drivers who were convinced that automatic transmissions were not made for sports cars but for comfortable-oriented drivers in the first line were disabused by the C 36 AMG. The appeal of the "intelligent" automatic transmission, that independently recognizes the driver's driving behavior, lies in its fast shifting and sporty setup. Since the control logic changes the switch points depending on the driver's individual style, you could not shift any faster when doing it manually.

The C 36 AMG with all its extraordinary attributes soon became one of the most famous and most popular AMG models ever. This is not surprising, as the car offered a completely new approach to the compact sports car segment. In contrast to most of its competitors, the C 36 AMG combined both sporty characteristics and comfort. Due to the popularity and the huge demand for the C 36 AMG, the technicians also developed a US version. And, even more impressively, it only took 10 months for the development of a type-approved vehicle

Does anyone know if the new range of C43 AMG cars are eligible to become members of the AMG Lounge. According to Mercedes Benz all C43's are listed as a seperate AMG model on the configurator and also the cars have AMG in red on the engine cover. Info would be greatly appreciated.
