An unhappy customer

Once again we have gone off into the world of Margarie Proops on Mums-net.

I watched the video, the mechanic didn't crash...no damage was caused...

That's not the point. Quite simply, he should not have been driving it. Moreover, you have only seen part of the video. The OP on PH makes this clear.

Probably gives the PHOP's wife one over the bonnet when she arrives to collect it

That G55 was probably used for school runs and local supermarket trips by the owner (if he has to complain about a bit of spirited driving), my guess is that mechanic probably did that car a favour!

If there were burn outs and donuts being done...then the owner has a valid point.
Agreed! I lost the link to an article I read a few years ago.

A good occasional thrashing to a brand new engine would most likely bed it in more properly than one thats carefully ran in, it stops the bore from glazing(loses compression, increase oil consumption)

Correct me if I am wrong??
Isn't it true that all Mercedes/AMG rolled out of the production get driven round the test track for a good shake down before signing off for sale??

I think there are two questions here....

The first is if there was any damage caused in this instance.

The second is whether you would be happy for someone to drive your car in this way.

For me, the answers are No, and No...

Wonder what happens in the rest of the video to make him not show it?
Probably drove quite sensibly, or OP would have edited to show the mechanic driving his car recklessly.

Looking at the footage, the mechanic went out for about 6-7 minutes test drive, only 10secs of which were brisk acceleration.

Simply, it's fair to conclude that it's not worth watching, i.e. nothing to report.

Then again I could be completely wrong and the technician raced a cop car (won obviously!), ran over an old lady and did a smash & grab...oh, I nearly forgot, had a quick shag with a passerby too. Thus, the owner is just giving us a teaser.

I'll await part two of the video footage with bated breath!

Here you go Guys.

Tbh I don't see that tech giving that car a thrashing at all. He merely tickles the throttle for a few seconds. It sounds worse than it is.

The OP's PistonHeads username is 'misery' and this is one of his replies to being told not much happened in the vid;

"Not much happening..............his arrogance in saying he was going to smash it up, he breaks the speed limit twice, his language, his colleague sprays the car with his jet wash, he drives my car as if he had stolen it. It is my car and I work bloody hard to get the nice things I like in life and I feel incensed that my hard earned pleasure was abused by some little toe rag enjoying a jolly."

By all accounts, he sounds like a right Hampton.

So he's upset because the mechanics were swearing while in his car and made obviously untrue threats to smash it up, then gave it a few beans for 10 seconds.

They probably saw the dashcam and thought they would give the miserable Bugger something to moan about.

True to form, He's shown his true colours and after moaning to the manager, posted it on the internet.

In harrow our road tests consists of 20mph runs unfortunately!

Just to add, I dont think that in this particular video car was trashed and abused.
I vaguely remember a thread on here, where one of the users posted similar thread with his car being driven by some numpty.

If the car needs the road test, I would never have an issue with it. If however, I was to leave it in the garage for work that doesn't require driving my car, then I would get rather upset to say the least.

There were quite a few members arguing that nothing happened, that no one got hurt and that there was no damage to the car.

And so what?

If a person fancy to trash about in an expensive car, they can hire one for a day and do with it as they pleased.
I certainly don't work my a**e off to facilitate this enjoyment for them.
