A bit OTT IMHO but driving without licence (and presumably therefore without insurance) means the driver is a menace and probably a standard drink drive offence in china wouldn't carry the same punishment.

It seems that on this occasion, the justice system over there, is very much based on outcome, not on intent. This is a dangerous system but if they deal with violent criminals in the same way, then who am I to complain.
 
Realistically, he cannot complain, he has killed someone else...just because we look to give people community service does not make it harsh...
 
Whatever the crime, I could not be part of a society which condoned the execution of its citizens as a lawful punishment. And I'm far, far away from being a fluffy liberal type :)
 
Murder, yes. Manslaughter (such as this case is), no.
 
20 yrs hard labour would have been better. Give him time to reflect and dry out.

Personally I am not all that easy with the idea of a state taking a life in this way but I am sure many disagree (my father certainly does) and they are entitled to their view.
