Fed up of hearing dealers being slated unfairly here's my good experience for the day. Popped Edna in as she'd been beeping and flashing her roof light at me although all seemed to be OK. Service manager came out and looked immediately. Spent a while trying to get her to bleep and typically she went quiet. So we agreed I'd see if it re-occurred and pop back.

So next thing the chap said was "Is there anything else I can help you with?" So I asked if they could point out the fuel inlet pipe for me. He called a mechanic out and they highlighted said pipe for me.

On walking round the car service guy glanced down at one of my replaced wheels and noticed a bubble. Immediately said they'd get it replaced. Then again asked if there was anything more I needed help with. There wasn't so I came home.

That for me is the picture of the type of service I always get from my dealer and the type of service I expect. They are alwasy polite, well mannered and treat you with the utmost respect - which they get in return.

I know not everyone does get this level of service - but it is proof that they are not all the same.

MB Harrogate are the best

Well done, Pammy.

Nice to here a positive experience, too easy to whinge. More people should put plusses down.

Thats what ownership of a Mercedes should be like, just wish more dealerships were like that.

That's a bit sad, but definately not the dealers fault.

Indeed - but the point is they spotted it and set what they were going to do about it. I didn't even have to point it out and ask. ;) Yet others seem to have to battle for everything ;)

I've not had good dealership experience with Mbz but the Harrogate francise always exceeds my customer expectations. They go the extra mile and indeed should get some reward from Mbz for setting a good example. I think we need to formally recognise these dealerships for all the hard work they put in. Its too easy to get a handful of unhappy customers but for those they make a difference no-one hears about that... Mbz need to develop a reward system commonly used at retailers where colleagues are recognised for going that extra mile for a customer and this fed back to Mbz-UK.

That said i would never even walk into a Derwent branch.

Nice to read, I suspect they are a good dealership with very slow staff turnover etc.

I also suspect they treat you well because you bought your car from them, I'm sure that makes a difference.

I was wondering about staff turnover, as when I visited my local dealer in Aylesbury recently (to look at the new B class) I did not recognise any of the sales staff from 6 months ago??

Do MB have a staff retention problem??

The dealers I've been to don't care where you bought the car they all seem to treat you just the same as if you purchased there..totally shite!...Only kidding, my experience dealers has so far been good. That's three dealers in five years.
The supplying dealer and currently used one are both very good and the other was Ok.

I don't know - My not so local dealer has some of their staff of a year ago, but they keep getting promoted, so I never end up dealing with the same person for the next service. Grand titles too!

Ian.

I suppose buying from the dealer may get you decent aftersales but I have never bought a car from them.. i wish i had. I have had all my services from them for the past 2 years and they don't don't really know me that well but still treat you with respect.....I don't usually speak highly of dealers they have to earn my respect and over the past 2 years these guys have.

I suggested that a supplying dealer might look after its customer better based on experience of a Vauxhall dealer (Dixon in Beverley, East Yorks) who seemingly couldn't do enough for my family when we all drove Griffins. I lost count of all the free and informal test drives we got, any visit they'd ask if I'd driven the latest [....] and throw me the keys. Service was good too, even though I never used them for routine servicing.

I had the feeling that Malaya Bromley looked down their noses at me, so never went back. Rawsons, on the other hand have been much better, although at times gave the impression of being a little disorganised. Only an E Class Sir, can you park it round the corner, we've got some proper customers coming in this morning...

Something tells me that the dealers up North have a better reputation - the family I bought my first Mercedes from were really well looked after by the dealers they used and swore by the marque. I also have a theory that 'daan saaaf' the customers might be more difficult, or richer, so perhaps I'm not comparing like with like.

Sounds like an excellent Dealership and I have heard nothing but praises from the Yorkshire crew on the forum about them.

Other half wants to go back to Yorkshire sometime in the near future and live there (thats where she initally comes from and Harrogate is not too far from her famliy...).

Pammy: Are they going to replace ur alloy with a refurb or new one? reason why I ask is becasue my friend is trying to get a new alloy of MB underw arranty opposed toa refurb...

He he - get thee back to God's own county - it's the best :D

As for the wheel - prob be a refurb but as they seem to better than the originals I don't really mind. ;)

:D Me neither ! :D
PS Pammy, Is that the same dealer that changed your grill for an IDENTICAL one ?

Of all the dealers I've used (5) the one at Beaconsfield is the least bad. OK they poured brake fluid over the cam covers, which left a trail of etched white blotches all over it, but when I pointed it out they did agree to replace the cover without the usual argument. (They tried to polish them out first!). It took a couple of attempts to get the right part - first one was for a V8 - but it was eventually done and the car was back to how it was before it went in. For an MB dealer I reckon that's as good as it gets.
