Another service history problem

Bought a '55 plate A180 from Carcraft Leeds in February.
Was told it had a "FULL SERVICE HISTORY with JCT600".
They would send it to me when it arrived.
SIX weeks later after multiple calls to customer services, AND the salesman himself, still no history.
JCT600 say they have had no service dealings with the car but said MB Leicester serviced it in 2007.
MB Leicester confirm that but say they only have record of THAT service but that they only keep records of their own services.
How do I contact MB to see if any other records exist?
Also, any othe tips?
Am now going to press for rejection of the car to see what Crapcraft have to say.
Paid in cash and, Nope, nothing in writing.

Phoning around dealers is the only option.

If you have any doubt - and if lack of FMBSH would be a clincher - then I would reject now, no excuses.

I should think you will have a hard time unless you printed off the advert...

I know Auto Trader, Ebay etc do keep the adverts stored so you could contact them.

Contact the previous owners and a) see if the last owner still has the service book or b) ask them where they got the car serviced.

If you still have the original advert and it states full service history, Trading Standards will take up the fight for you as they take a very dim view of this sort of thing.

Thanks guys, no ads just the car in the showroom.
The history was verbal between me and my memsahib and the salesman.
I do have the details of the previous owner which is tomorrows first job.
I've sent C/C a 28 day letter.
Sent MB a mail asking if they have any details.
See what happens tomorrow AND when C/C get the letter.
Thank you again.

I think your hope now rests with the previous owner.

May also be worth asking your local Merc dealer if the car has had any warranty claims against it. If it has, this may point to where its previously been serviced.

My concern would be if they "lied" about the service history - what else may they be hiding???

Hi Vlad, TBH MB Leicester told me they had no further record of the vehicle apart from the one service.
If ALL only keep their own records then It'll be ringing up each one in turn.
crockers, could be a right pile of poop. TBH even with a full MBSH it could be a slightly smaller pile.
We are where we are and I just gotta plough on.

Still no reply from MB.
Ex owner very vague about previous history, meaning none.
28 day letter sent.
Apart from giving them notice of total rejection of car is there a cash amount I can quote stating the difference in value from a JCT600 full history to virtually none?
Not sure yet whether or not to go down and park outside with a banner and ring the newspapers. Will try the negotiating route first.
Ho hum :dk:

You can ring MB UK customer services on 0800 800644

JCT600 have many branches. Have you tried ringing all the local ones near to where the previous owner lived?

Thanks npuk.
Ex owner said she only knew of one service and that was JCT600 Peugeot Bradford.
Just got an email from MB saying they would be pleased to send me a copy of the service history on receiving emailed proof of ownership, so big WHOHOO for them.
So that's me tomorrows jobs sorted.
Bless you all for your interest.
So, this could either run and run, or end satisfactorally tomorrow.......No, me neither.

Got the confirmation of another service, JCT600 Bradford, less than a year ago.
Possibly fortuitous that OFT have published a survey into used car dealers. Complaint gone to them too.
How do I arrive at a price comparison 'tween a '55 A180 CDi Avantgarde with 42k on the clock with full JCT600 history and one with patchy history? I'm thinking if it goes to court then I can demonstrate the value of the deception.
Still no word from Carcrafty but I sent me letter to C/C Leeds where I bought it and it now appears that the registered HQ is in rochdale so the letter may have to forwarded by them.
Hey Ho.
