The silver one.
01 W210 boot opens and shuts fine, well until last night in the petrol station and it wont slam shut:mad:, bungee strap it down, to work remove bungee and it locks and shuts fine.

If you operate the lock with a screwdriver with the boot open it clicks in and out as it should, sounds okay, all lubricated, lightly slam no joy, a bit harder whilst maintaining a little weight on the lid and it shuts fine.

Any ideas, common fault?

The hook that you operated with a screwdriver grabs a square ring just above the bumper when the boot is shut, sounds like this is loose or out of alignment with the lock.
Or
The lock itself is loose and is out of alignment with the square ring above the bumper.

Picture is of a W202

Right since i took the scrap out of the boot its been fine until this weekend loaded it up with rubble for the tip and it wont shut, down the tip concrete blocks out and it shuts and works fine again.

It seems any weight is effecting how the boot shuts, but i have a large alloy box i keep in there so i can stick loads of junk and suchlike in the boot without damaging the carso the loads is well spread.

When the boot is empty and i press the remote boot release it fairly springs up, with weight in it release fine but rises much slower.

I have tried the lock in a few positions but its obviously not at fault, seems the floor is flexing or something.

Dec everything is tight, even my wallet!

That sounds a bit odd and warrants investigation, especially as this car has been used for towing.
Strip out the linings and have a good look around.

Strange as i had been thinking the same thing!

Well i have some parking sensors to fit so will do all at the same time.

Had the box made years ago for the boot of my disco.
