Hi Guys,

Does anybody have a W211 with the optional wooden steering wheel fitted? Any pics? I am contemplating getting my leather wheel upgraded and was wondering if it will make much difference. I notice that the current leather wheel is a bit on the chunky side.

Any opinions?

Wooden steering wheels have never been to my taste personally. That said, the part wood, part leather wheels do like nice though. I only like wooden wheels on cars of the 'olden days' era. I supposed it's really just a case of personal taste in the end.

Yes I've got it in my E Class, with the birds eye maple wood. Its slightly larger than the normal wheel I believe.

Hi Fuzzer,

I have exactly the same trim as saorbust - the light grey and maple.

It would be great if you have the same, I'll snap your hand off for that.

please let know.

thanks

Do I need to replace the airbag as well?

Nope , just the steering wheel itself , its avalible from a dealer for about £400 ish. and about £60 for fitting

Thanks for all your responses and pics guys!

Looks like I am going to have to order one from Merc dealer - Although I am certain I will end up having to change the airbag as the one on the new wheel has leather stitching and a joint at the top, middle. Whereas the standard avantgarde one is more of a moulded unit.

Will keep you posted.

Thanks again!
