Anyone got any recommendations re a warranty plan

I bought my 2001 SLK 230 from and am considering buying a warranty - I've been reading a little about them but wanted to hear from my new MB friends whether they think its a good idea?

Trouble is on 12 year old cars most of the warranties exclude more than they include.

I use Warranty Direct. Had one claim in first year and they paid up no trouble.

The AA vehicle repair cover is great ,, allowed 5 claims per year, they pay £500 towards each claim, even a new battery is covered ,, bout £8 per month

Thanks, i've ended up going with AA as they were offering half price insurance in Morrisons so i'm paying £17.30 for cover with warranty included.

warranty direct inspection

Hi guy, iv'e been looking for a SL55 for about 4 months now, and finally found one that seems to tick all the boxes. got a quote from warranty direct of a £1000 for their top of the range warranty, and they have offered to inspect the car for £70, to make sure its up to scratch. they said that they will send out an inspector that specializes in prestige cars, with a mobile ramp to check everything, as long as the last service was done by mercedes. is this a good deal, or has anyone on here done this before. i am a total novice, and would appritiate advice.
