Anyone used hydraulic ramps?

I'm going to be doing some work on my 722.6 gearbox and obviously need access to the underneath of the car as I want to drain the transmission fluid and remove the valve body etc.

I've done a fair bit of research including viewing some videos on youtube of a guy doing this in America where he used a combination of wheel ramps, jack and axle stands. It all looked fairly secure but there was precious little working room so I'm thinking about using a pair of individual hydraulic ramps under the front wheels which give a lot more access under the front of the car.

Has anyone used such an item and would the angle the car goes up at as a result cause any problems?

Any advice/know how much appreciated.

If you mean the sort that look like normal car ramps, then the bit the wheel rests on lifts hydraulically (using bottle jacks each side) then yes.
I found them very useful.
I much prefer lifting car evenly, even if I then lower it a bit onto axle stands to leave front completely in the air after removing them.
Only problem I found on mine, is the front valance just touches on driving onto, and off the ramp, but learnt to live with it.

Just to add, my tyres 255/35/18 only just fitted in the "cups" on the top of the ones I bought. They were like these, but sure I paid less. ( http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lifting-C...tenance-Ram-/371460192386?hash=item567cc0b882 )

Thanks - yes I do mean that type. From memory my tyres are 245/45/17 so should fit Ok.

I've had the access problem with non hydraulic ramps but just used a couple of cut down scaffold boards to lessen the angle to drive on.
