APS 30, How to test?

Hi,

Have a look at this web site page. It's for a comand install but does show the pin outs for plug A ( C1 ) and also how to take out the dash on a W203 C class.

Plug A (C1) is the main power in to the unit and is the same for Audio10, 30 and comand.

You need to supply power to

pin 4 ( 12V+ perm )
pin 7 ( 12V+ ignition)
pin 8 ( 12V- ground)

Link 4 and 7 together is OK to test the Audio30 APS and it should now power up OK, this is how I tested my Audio 30 APS ( now changed to COMAND ) without any problems.

Hope this helps.

Got this one already ;) Nice web site got all the manuals of COMAND systems!

I had a spare DIN connector that I plugged in and supplied power to. This worked on both a BE4718 that I sold on and fitted to a C class and also a BE4716 that's in my car at the moment.

To be sure why don't you try it in the car? It really isn't much work getting the old one out.

I know, but I just don't want to work on my car if the APS 30 isn't working. I like to keep my car tidy. :)

If you have a look at the socket you will see a little strip on the left side what gives me the intention that that may be a kind of switch. This will be activated when you use a DIN connector since it pushes it in when you connect it. I just used crocodile clips without the DIN connector. If I have the time this evening I will try again and let you know.

Hi, Yesterday eveing I have successfully exchanged my Audio 10 CD with my £169 eBay APS 30. :bannana: Connected all connectors and with the GPS antenne in the dash I got 7 satellites within 10 min. Also updated the firmware to Version 7. Didn't had the time to drive around but it was giving the correct cordinates when pressing the i buttom.

So I think that when you want to bence test this unit you will need to connect it via DIN connectors and not via crocodile clips. ;)

Congratulations & well done, that's a good result. Fantastic price on the APS 30 unit too!

Good news! They are bargains at the moment. Single DIN ones normally go for £200ish.
