I really think this is worth posting on here becasue my experience has been very interesting.

I can’t believe the way you get treated according to the make car you drive, when I had my Mercedes I didn’t have any problems or negativity from anyone.

In the 14 months I’ve had my BMW I’ve had 3 nasty road rage incidents of people slamming on their breaks in front of me and sticking their fingers up, family and friends telling me I must agree that most BMW drivers are wan***s, and just general negativity.

I haven’t even driven the BMW any different to my Mercedes. I have heard stories from other BMW drivers getting similar abuse.

All in all just can’t wait to pick my ML up in 9 days and come back to the Mercedes club :-)

We can't possibly reply as you drive a BM.

Come back when you have an MB :)

I don't think it is the BMW drivers fault, it is the car itself. I drove a BMW recently, only for a few miles, and was horrified how close I was driving to the cars in front. I had to make a real effort to keep a safe distance.
MB's have Distronic, BMW must have Nearotronic.;)

The following are diven by 35+ year old bald 'barry' men in pink shirts who look like Phil Mitchel and are total w###ers. Tail gate you, under take and generally suffer from Micro Penises:

-Rover MG ZS's in blue with the massive stupid spoilers - (like any Rover needs downforce FFS)

-Mk1 or Mk2 Vectra's with Barry kits and dual square exausts + Chrome filler caps

-E36 BMW Convertable's

-Any SEAT

Please note, all of the above will feature a numberplate with a St Georges flag

It all comes down to stereotypes -

Mercedes are ALWAYS driven by NICE people .

BMW's tend to be driven by aggressive , thrusting executive types with inferiority complexes and seldom by nice people .

When BMW design cars with aggresive looking front ends and the people who buy them insist on tailgating you to show them off, what is there to like?

Russ

I've not noticed any differnce driving BMW, VW, Mercedes, Audi to be honest.

Nice to see no stereotype opinions creeping in here then.

There are good and bad everywhere. Its just our own personal perceptions that dictate what we choose to see.
I drive circa 150 miles per day on the M25/M3 and to be honest I couldnt pick one make of car out from any other as particularily good or bad.
It is tempting to join in with the "lets knock BMW drivers" crusade, but there are so many on the roads, and most ARE driven well, it would be wrong. If I really had to pick out any BMW's for critisism, then IMHO it would be the smaller models like the 116i that would get my thumbs down. M3/5's and the like are nearly always driven well and with regard to the road conditions.
The current trend (started by Clarkson?) seems to point the finger of blame at AUDI drivers. I feel the reason for this is that there are more AUDIs on the road than say, 10 years ago and therefore the brand has a greater awareness. It only needs one or two examples of dangerous driving to be seen to get the label bad driver.

Mercedes of course, are as ever, above all this and are in a league of their own.

When driving the Smart car I think more people let me out of junctions that when I had the CLK.

If I see a nice classic car waiting to pull out I tend to let it go, if only so that I can look at it for longer. :)

Never experienced any attitude in my little 190E, but I can tell you that Merc drivers are certainly not all 'nice people'.
Like most other marques, a fair share of complete pr!cks drive Mercs.
If I were to throw a stereotype out there, I'd say it's Turbo Diesel man that drives like he's got something to prove. It seems that sitting at 95mph in the fast lane is simply not quite fast enough for your average M1/M4 cretin in his (usually VAG) TDI.

You will love the ML after the BMW.:)

It will never be regarded as a Chelsea tractor and the Greenies will welcome you with open arms,..... notes under the wipers and gaffiti!

Frying pan, fire.....

PS I love my ML!

I tend to find that getting into traffic is harder now. There are people I am convinced who will not let a BMW out. It does make it a self fullfilling prophecy as the only option left eventually is to make your own hole, therefore making the reputation a touch worse.

On the actual road, very little difference.

I think you might be onto something there......

I have one of each does that mean I suffer from some kind of multiple personality disorder?

I agree generally with your quote, but being the owner of a selection of shirts of many hues, a few of which are pink, I think I must mildly object at this generalisation over the pink shirts. Yes, I am over 35, but my wife no longer has the BMW!
