OK so I bought an nice double DIN JVC head unit with 7" touch screen from some in car specialists and went to install it with the wiring adapter they sold me and was gutted to find that I can't because its the wrong connector!
I have a fibre optic link in there. So how or what do I need to be able to connect my new JVC head unit?
The original MB unit in my E320 CDI (W211) is an Audio 50 with cassette. It has a single slot on the front where nav disc goes.
Also I spied a sub in the boot made of cheap black paper hidden in the parcel shelf area. Can this be easily swapped out for a better subwoofer?

I don't think you bought your JVC from some in car specialist, a specialist would have known that an Audio 50 (APS) unit would connect via MOST fiber to the AGW at the trunk. You would have to remove the AGW too and wire speakers accordingly. Is your fancy JVC with touch screen able to run 4+3 channels plus two for a dual coil subwoofer (in case you have logic-7 audio)?

No they aren't in car specialists. I was pretty annoyed when I got home I can tell you! When I phoned them back to explain the situation they asked me if I was sure it was an Audio 50 because they'd never heard of one before

So it seems as though unless I want a significant amount of work I'd be better off going with a comand unit if I want to be able to get bluetooth and just forget about DivX capability :(

Also is the comand bluetooth A2DP because I want to be able to stream music from my pocket pc?

As for Logic 7, how can I tell?

1. Almost certainly not. Depending on the model you should be able to fit a Ipod kit. I think the later cars come with a better media interface, but do not know if this can be retrofitted.

2. Harmon Karmon badges on the front door speakers.

Thanks for the info. Well definitely not HK then. Will have to do some reading on Comand systems it looks like

The badges could have been removed. If you have a sub I would say you do have HK.

If you have the datacard for you car it will show what options it has.

Upgrading to Comand NTG1 is the easiest solution but it is an old unit. Upgrading to latest Comand NTG2.5 is possible but more complicated, you will need to reroute cables fron the boot to the back of the headunit plus if you do have HK you will need two new HK amps which itself isnt cheap.

You will need the Comand NTG2.5 unit, gps antenna plus:

Comand Online Ltd :: Mercedes SatNav/COMAND :: COMAND Retrofit parts :: W211/W219 E/CLS NTG1 Harmon Kardon to NTG2.5 Conversion set
and
Comand Online Ltd :: Mercedes SatNav/COMAND :: COMAND Retrofit parts :: W211 last E, W219 CLS :: Harmon Kardon Amplifer for NTG2.5 COMAND
and
Comand Online Ltd :: Mercedes SatNav/COMAND :: COMAND Retrofit parts :: W211 last E, W219 CLS :: HK Subwoofer Amplifer for NTG2.5 COMAND

If you email Alfie at Comand Online with your VIN number he can confirm if you have HK or not advise you of exactly what you need for the upgrade.

Get Alfie solution and it will cost you at least £500:eek:

Woah!! I really hope I don't have an HK 7 setup. That's £1500 alone on the amps!!!! If that's the case I'll just gut the whole car and replace all the speakers with a complete rewire myself. No way I'm going to put up the limitations of the comand setup when I can just go after market the whole way and get so much more for so much less!!
