Just a quick question - those of you who use Auto Glym products i.e. Super Resin Polish etc. do you use circular motions to buff polish/wax off (as per instructions) and if so does it leave behind swirls on your paint work?

Good thing about silver is that swirls show very minimal.

In past I have always used Zymol Cream Wax and that is applied and buffed off using side to side movement and not circular motions hence no swirls.

Use it in side to side motions, super resin polish contains fillers so it should cover / hide the swirls but they will re-appear in no time, only way to get rid of the switrs is to polish the clearcoat with either an orbital or rotary polisher, and wash your car with the two bucket method. Throw the sponge in the bin and buy a sheepskin mitt,

www.detailingworld.co.uk for plenty of info...

I use a combination of left to right and circular motions with no adverse problems. My car is silver but have previously owned two solid black cars and all seemed ok.

It wont realy make mush diference which way you apply as the SRP is a filler, and does not have a cut / bite, so therefor it a filler rather than a polish.
When your using SRP it best to go side to side as the fillers will fill the swirls easier - like going across the grain if you like.
Its been well documented that modern cars especially German cars, the clearcoat is so tuff that you would never be able to make much of an improvment polishing with hand unless you had arms like popeye and a spare week but still its down to other factors like Heat & speed to break down the abrasives in the polish and leaving a true swirl free finish (Not just a filled finish).
Thats why Valeters may charge you £50 to polish you car, where a proper Detailer may charge anything from £200 to £750, they may look like they have the same swirl free finish but wash the car a few times and the fillers soon disapear leaving you back at quare one.
Just a note to say that Im not a valeter / detailer or in any way associated with any - I've been on detail world for a while and went to a couple of meets where the professional Detailers are in action and learn a few things from reading the guides and info on there

What I am thinking of using on all of the cars is Auto Glym Radiant Polish/Wax - its two in one but some say it is just SRP.

As far as I know they are similar, the later just comes in a 5 litre type metal container and is branded slightly diferent for Valeters

I have had really good results using Super resin polish and then the Extra gloss protection. At first I thought the gloss protection was a wasted effort, but as time has gone on I can see how the shine and water beading lasts much longer. Mine is applied by hand using...err hand movements!:D

Autoglym Ultra Deep shine (with the black label) has fillers and is a swirl busting polish. This needs no topping with "AG Extra Gloss Protection" in fact if you top with this it will not improve the finish or performance.

AG Super Resin (red label) is used with AG Extra Gloss Protection. AG super resin is a cleaner polish with sealant. A topping of AG Extra Gloss Protection really improves things but remember it needs to be applied whisper thin about 20 millilitres is enough for a whole vehicle treatment.

You should not get any swirls if you apply and remove properly (invest in some good quality microfibre cloths).

Swirl generally comes from poor washing.

So does that mean I would be ok to apply the polish/wax with circular motions then and would end up with no swirls then? :)

Jewel Diamond Ultrabrite is the best product ive used compared to the rest

Yes apply it how you like in circular motions it is the removal that should be done in straight lines in the direction of the air flow.

Collinite has many recommendations - also winning auto express tests...I have just ordered some from USA - 2 for the price of 1 in UK so when it has arrived will be giving it a go....:)

I'm a convert to Autoglym from Zymol, Although Zymol smelled nicer :D

Work in areas of about 24" a time

Is that the real Zym0l or the one Halfords sell.
The wax is superb but hard work and expensive or really expensive for the top of the range like Vintage etc

Hi all I have a car spares shop and you must try the new very expensive £36.99 Autoglym High Definition Wax .

Flash, I used Auto Glym Super Resin last weekend with great results. Last time I used Meguiars Scratch X and NXT spray wax, but found AG SRP to be much better both in application and results. I used an application pad with both circular and side to side motion to work in as it does contain cleaning agents (you could see the grime on the applicator pad after workin the stuff in) , then buffed of with Mequiars Micro Fibre Towel.

I found to Mequiars products a bit difficult to buff off, but with AG SRP it was so easy. Check my thread which contains photos of my CLK after after using AG SRP:
