Auto trader - responses!!!!

When I clicked on the Auto T link there was only 1 picture. You need every angle and teh inside covered to show that the car is perfect. The pano roof could be a good selling feature - can you get a photo that shows the benefits of it.
Your car looks like all the others and pictures help the sell.
Many cars have their prices pitched too high and that's a turn off. It will work if there is something special about teh car taht somebody realyl wants but this car is much like any other.
If like some suggest you pitch your price below the market and the pictures show that it is above market you have a usp that will attract teh few buyers that there are for that car.

Hello,

I do agree with the picture, its small set too far back and doesn't make you look (like many in the Autotrader) at least with piston heads you can have loads of pictures showing the goodies.

I know its daft as if your looking for one you should look anyway but worth a try?

ooh I see you have done it.

Better but in the shade and not showing roof etc, oh and £4999, its free on piston heads so front, back, boot, engine it all helps.

Update.....

Having a quick look there are pleanty around. Use the vaxhaul site to value your car as that really cn be the main reason its not selling?

this looks similar? but its £4k

A car is only worth what someone would be willing to pay for it period.
So unless you agree to lower your price you may struggle to get your asking price, so its a game of drop to sell now or wait til an appropriate payer ends up.

Is it MB SH? or Indy?
A very important point and highly relevant.

Service history means nothing.

If you have a full main dealer service history with documentation then shout it out :D

Another weekend of TIMEWASTERS !!

Why do they even pick up the phone - I'm beginning to think its some sort of new pasttime for the sad and lonely...

Surely if you call, like the sound of the car, make clear arrangements to view..... then you turn up!!!

Well I'm lost on what to do next.. but I'll leave it a couple of weeks before I advertise it again, hopefully something will happen to restore my faith in my fellow man.

Whats doubly dissapointing these cretins what to join the ranks of Mercedes owners....

I've had the same problem. Changed plans, stayed in etc. Grrr indeed. Get a moble number off anyone who arranges to view.

Hurray sold the bloody thing!!!

Had to drop to £4600 but well pleased to be rid of the rust.

This thread made me laugh. I am selling a car on Autotrader at the moment. It is clearly advertised at £2,300. I have had several calls asking the usual questions (i.e. asking what is already detailed in the ad) and then....

"Sounds great. I have only got £2,000 to spend. Will you sell it for that?"

Duh? Why would I advertise for £2,300 if I wanted to sell it for less? There's on-the-spot haggling (where I might be persuaded to drop my price) which is fair enough and then there is downright time-wasting cheek.

selling on auto trader is certainly an experience (I don't want to repeat!) - I think I'd rather set fire to my next car  ....

I really hate selling cars, however its good to remember that amongst all the wallys out there conspiring to make your life hell, it only takes ONE geniune real buyer to seal the deal.
Doing trade-ins may not be financially the best way forward, but it makes car buying a whole lot easier.

Was it actually rusty? :o

Lovely spec but TBH, i don't think the 2.6 litre engine (although nice), isn't the engine that most people will go for. I can't imagine the 280 or 320 being more expensive to run.
Also people prefer the Avantgarde trim but Elegance is much better than Classic.
But at £4600, thats alot of car for not alot of money. If I had know you'd be willing to let it go for that much in the first place, the whole saga would have been finished ages ago :p

No it wasn't that bad - but 'tip of an iceberg' comes to mind...

actually, it was 2.4 - which I think is a nice balance between economy and power for an everyday car. yep thank heavens it wasn't a classic with cloth interior...
