Today after having my rear window mechanism changed,i noticed that my rear door was not self closing..on investigating further i noticed that all the doors plus boot lid is not self closing.I have tried taking the fuse out for few minutes and placing back ..doors works once and then stop working again.
Please advise ..
Any suggestion will be appreciated..
If the pump is gone how much it will cost????

If they have disconnected it on one door, it throws off the whole system...

Take it back to them and ask them to have a look FOC.

If the pump is gone, you are looking at about £500 upwards from MB!!

I had the rear window mechanism job done by one of the specialist"MERCSTAR" in Harrow..he is saying that he has not done anything that would effect the self close system and blaming on me that the system was not working from before ...no help from his end.Can you explain how one can disconnect one door ....are their any electrical switches in the door .
I have taken out the fuse#9 and put it back after a minute ..doors work once and then back to same problem..

It works by electronic switches incorporated into the dorr locking mechanism which triggers the vacuum pump to "pull" the door in, via the coresponding vacuum pipe.

If they have knocked a wire from the locking mechanism it could cause the door not to realise to pull the door off and throw the whole system off balance (i am unsure of this).

If they had of knocked a vacuum off, you would hear the hissin of the vacuum pump and it would not even try and pull the door in.

To be honest, if it is happening when you take the fuse out, then stops...i am puzzled!!

Hope that helps slightly...
