Aux input question

My W203 '06 has factory command and factory ipod connector. there is also an aux input socket fitted in the glovebox. how do you switch between the ipod connector and the aux socket, I want to plug other stuff into the 3.5mm aux socket but I cannot make it live.....it was factory fitted (or do they disconnect it when the ipod kit is fitted ?)

Aux input wont work when you have the ipod kit. Ipod kit would have been dealer fit afterwards afaik.

Bugger!....to be honest the ipod integration is rubbish, the display in the instruments only manages a word or two and the control is really clunky through the phone buttons

tempted to rip it out and fit a 6 disc changer and just use mp3 disks instead......easy job???

Ipod retrofit guide available on www.mercupgrades.com so you can see what will be involved to remove it, you would basically have to take the same parts out to fit a cd changer. You can sell the ipod kit on ebay to recoup some of the cost of buying a cd changer.

Other option is to upgrade to Comand NTG2.5 and sell existing Comand unit and ipod kit. Comand NTG2.5 has SD card slot and 4GB music register on the hard drive so can play mp3 direct from either of those or dvd. The unit also comes in two options, with or without built in 6 disc dvd changer.

Press and hold CDC button, should display "Aux Input Active" It does on mine anyway!
