Hi,

I have a W210 (E430) 2000 with command fitted. I notice there is an "Aux" button available. Is it possible therefore to feed an MP3 player into it? If so where would I find the input?

Kind regards,

Phil.

It is posible to feed an MP3 player in via the AUX port. If you have it installed it will be in the glove box and will be a small 3.5mm jack socket. This connects to the headphone or AUX out port of your MP3 player. If you dont have the socket, then it can be easily purchased from MB for less than £20. fitting it will require you to get your comand out and wire the thing into your C2 connector:)

Instructions can be provided if necessary.

First went to ask Mercedes dealer about the £20.00 plug kit...they had never heard of it although they too did seem to remember that there was a plug fitted to early models in the glove box.

Came home and on a whim decided to look in the glove box...

DUH!!!... there's a small socket fitted on the RHS.

Plugged in the MP3 player, switched to AUX INPUT and Hey Presto!!!

Thanks anyway,

Phil.

Its only more recently (after introduction of DVD based comand), and on the ML (W163) that they don't bother putting the socket in the glovebox when you have factory fit comand

I guess its one of the myriad of little cost cutting being done ..
(less aerial amps on the A/B class if you don't have comand, no bluetooth internal antenna any more, no aux-input ....) - but as 99% of people don't notice, I guess it really doesnt matter

Cheers

Result! Thanks to the good advice in this thread I had a look in my glovebox today and found the factory fitted aux socket. Have been using my Ipod with my Comand 2.0 and it works great. Was previously thinking about getting it retrofitted too. My wife will be well pleased - Only downside is we'll be arguing about whether we plug in mine or hers :bannana:

You could move the AUX socket to your door pocket,Solve all the problems then:devil:

Customers complained that the original stereo jack was disabled once the iPOD kit was installed. This lead to dealers having to purchase the AUX / iPOD auto-switch which allows one of the two sources to be used without either being disabled.

So now Mercedes prefers to install nothing as the ipod kit is far more popular and causes less headaches.
