Bank holiday driving

............Probably the same Dullards who block up the petrol station waiting for a pump to become free on the same side that their filler cap is on when most petrol stations nowadays have hose that will reach both sides on most cars..............:)

Seriously........that bothers you? I thought I was grumpy.:)

The queues are there because people block the pumps while they do their grocery shopping.

I always wait for a pump on the cap side - not dragging a hose over, under or around my paintwork (never have, never will), the hoses are usually pretty filthy as well.

So apologies, you are going to have to be patient if I'm ahead of you:p!

I wonder why they have the indicator in the car showing which side the cap is on?

I thought I'd include the avid cyclists who cant manage to ride up a gentle slope ...or when they are a group of 4 or 5 and leave lots of gaps between them so you have to overtake all 4 or 5 at once ...

or the runners who decide they want to run on the road where there is lovely country side and paths they can run on with less fumes and better scenery and probably better for their knees. oh, I didn't mean to give runners a bad name, I meant joggers... had at least 20 jogging up this road and another 30 odd cyclists on bank holiday Monday.

Talking of being grumpy, this post really wound me up, the lane she is referring to is a national speed limit road in the countryside, a few slight bends followed by long lovely straight stretches. For at least 30 years I have enjoyed driving there and flexing the car as there is very little housing and few side roads, no police or speed traps for at least 8 miles. So for 75% of the traffic she is expecting drivers to slow from 70- 80 mph down to 15 mph just so she can walk her horse!

They all think they are better than you because they are fit and not polluting - very self-richeous.

Hmm I bet they fart a lot under the strain, perhaps that will be the next published pollution study, the activists already want meat banned for the same reason [emoji848]

You will never be ahead of me because I use any pump I can find free...left or right hand because having done this since petrol pumps like this became common I have yet to damage any paintwork by hose dragging. Seriously If people are worried about a rubber hose touching their paintwork maybe they should leave the car in the garage...forever, that way damaging the car will never be a bother to them :p

Petrol cap same side as pump makes me think the driver is either a woman, or a retired vicar. I have always driven to the next available pump irrespective of which side it is on. I would never allow the hose to touch the paintwork and it never does. As was said earlier - nearly all pumps reach both sides of most cars, the only 'judgement' (if you can call it that) is that you park the car precisely, to be able to reach your pump anyway and I 'assume' that anyone who drives a performance car ('most' Merc's) is capable of that - surely???

Joining ANY major road. Where there is either a STOP line (single unbroken) or a give way line (double broken) it is the law, I repeat - the LAW, to stop or give way respectively. You CANNOT proceed unless or until the road ahead is clear. Morons fail to appreciate this, joining a motorway and automatically expect to maintain their general trajectory forward into the lines of traffic, unimpeded. It aggravates the situation if you stand your ground in the inside lane and NOT move out to accomodate them because they get angry!!!??? WTF?

So why is it such a problem, for you, if people want to use the hose on same side as the cap? ......o_O:)

Wow, impressed with the skill it takes to properly line your car up with the pump so that you can fill on the far side. Awesome...knock yourself out if you want to pull a hose over your car:).

Bit of a stretch calling most Mercs "performance cars" - most aren't.

Even the C220 CDI AMGs? :D

Great thread! The collective high blood in here could put a NASA rocket in orbit.

I stayed at home and a had a BBQ with my bank holiday after giving the car a clean but knowing I may get a lot of hate from this, I have a stick on phone holder which sits just above the dash in the middle as it's more convenient should the phone needed charging for the satnav and I'm sorry but I wait for the petrol pump the same side as my filler cap I spend far too much time detailing the car only to drag any hose across the bodywork. :D

Sorry guys if it helps I wasn't out on the roads as I knew they'd be cr*p lol.

Mmmm interesting - quite a few women and retired vicars on this forum, methinks. Next they'll be telling me they haven't got the strength to support the hose as it stretches over the back of the boot. Ah, bless their little biceps!

OK about middle lane hogging, it is possible to get a ticket for it. But it isnt lane hogging at speed limit

I have seen people doing 60mph on lane 3, to me that qualifies as lane hogging
Edit: Two idiots almost hit me while I was in lane 1, doing speed limit and they tried to overtake me. They both nearly missed me, for some reason the X3 braked hard and got right in front of me, then the "upset" saab driver tried to tailgate him...

Er... I think you mean they both nearly hit you?

Interesting. When the point is proved with logic and good argument, and they can no longer constructively and civilly respond to the debate, the insults and name calling begins .....

I can't actually recall what the point was...:)
