Beaten by the weather

Guess what, snow not forecasted for us, but it has been snowing all morning!

Ade B. How hard did you hit the kerb? My lad did something similar in his R32 last year and ended up with over £400 worth of damage, bent track arm and some other damage.

No snow to speak of here but its so cold. I have to keep my garage doors open most of the time and any heat generated goes right though it. Driving to work is fun, as long as you remember its a rear wheel drive car. It was minus 7 in the workshop a couple of days ago. My electric bill is going to be horrendous

Southerners! Up here in Northumberland we have been hit hard, but being Northerners we see it as a minor inconvienience and just take longer to do things. I suppose it does help having a Disco 3 with winter tyres........
Having said that our cows aren't so happy having lost their shed to weight of snow last night.
I wonder why the missus gave me my coffee in a mug that reads 'Keep calm and carry on' (It actually says Now panic and freak out, but that is her way, not mine!)

Imagine how us displaced northerners feel !!!!!

That was rife in the north of Scotland last winter. And a distillery lost 27 rooves on their lay-up maturation warehouses. Each roof reckoned to be £500,000 to replace... Everything was having to be done from cranes as the rooves were resting on the casks and no one could enter the buildings. Fortunately, the casks survived or their business would have been set back 10 years or so.

I can lend you the Unimog if like buddy. You'll most likely get there OK. Only problem is that after 400 miles you probably won't remember your own name. I speak from much experience. :o

Ha ha! Thanks for the offer Simon.

If I drive 50, miles with Mrs Ringway (Sat Nag) and the young Ringway's (World Champion bickering title holders) I sometimes can't remember my own name. :D

Less than 5mph but harder than I would have liked. I was about 30 degrees skewed to the kerb at the time so it wasn't a full on sideways hit - it drove ok afterwards but then I was only doing about 20mph tops. The car is with Honda at the moment having a heater matrix replaced. I might get them to have a peek at the OS front before I pick it up.

Someone opposite us has lost all their guttering to the weight of snow. Been and checked our and all fine. Wonder how many slates have slipped though as snow slides around. Roofers and plumbers will be making a fortune next week!

Surrey not too bad(main roads that is,side roads not good),tommorrow looks like it will be worse as the forecast is -3 max tommorrow(-6 tonight)so could be a skating rink in the morning,be careful & stay safe;)

Can I just say that if you've got a cheap £30 leaf blower it works better at moving snow than a shovel.

A lot easier too.

Only when its uncompacted Sp!ke

Yes, but that snow was fresh.

Did my pathway in a few minutes.

The groundsmen where I work do all the paths with their blowers too.

Just to prove that we southerners are a soft bunch - I was beaten by the weather today and took the day off work.
My only mitigation is that it is the first time I have ever taken a day off work because of the weather, I was not even late for work in October 1987 (the day of the hurricane down here).

I never take time off for illness or anything else. However when I'm told not to come in then I won't be complaining (especially as we still get paid).

My wife got yesterday off work but had to go in today so it was on foot there and back.

Hoping to get the car free by (or on) Saturday as long as the snow has stopped falling.

I'll give that a try Spike. But since the gym is shut cos of the snow, a halfhour or two with a shovel gets the heart and lungs going good style. And it's free. :bannana:

Also tried the leaf blower. Sadly left it too long I think.

Also have battery concerns. Vauxhall started ok yesterday. Merc has not been started since Sunday. Saab, for about couple of weeks. Curious to see how that will go.

Anyone any idea where the battery is in the C320? boot again?

David
