Becker Grand Prix

How does the whole Becker model/range thing work?

What signifies 'top of the range' & vice versa?

Is it in the names?.... mexico pro vs grand prix

Or is it simply in the numbers?.... 7990...7937 etc etc

PS: I know price is a good way, but i see prices of Mexico's that are considerably higher than Grand Prix's & then sometimes very similar.... very confusing.

Cheers Dee

Usually by name...in terms of pricing think it's:
mexico pro
cascade pro
cascade
indianapolis
mexico pro

number usually version or output colour display.

I decided to amend my order and go with the one with sat nav... £200 more but saves me having to stick a tom tom in the window. again, sextons were the cheapest.

Just found this one on Amazon, £1,315,99 !!

Those are really cool units.. They work extremely well in cars such as pagoda's and other such vintage.

Slightly unrelated, still Becker though....

I have both the 7824 and the 7945 in both our w202 and dead pleased with both.

Was wondering if the w203 will accept these as although standard single DIN units, the w203 fascia seems to have both top corners 'rounded' whereas standard DIN units have 90 deg angle corners...

Planning ahead for car upgrade, so to speak ;)

Thanks

Should not be a problem. Just need the correct adapter. Have been on the lookout myself for a nice adapter. I know they are all plastic, but some have a nicer finish (not a cheap feel to them).

Thanks for that, drop us a note when you find a suitable adaptor - I fear the unit will be quite proud with a 'clumsy' adaptor

So glad you converted from Sony. This is the moment I recommended the Becker to you on 12th June:

Becker really look well in Mercs. They even do a retro look one.

Yep you have cost me major cash!

Just spent £600 on this lot... But i do actually use the 500E... The widebody is only occasional so the grand prix is fine for that.

Thinking of fitting a Grand Prix in my W210, to replace the crummy old Audio 10 that was fitted as standard. What I need to know is whether or not it would work with my MB 6 CD changer and if I'll still be able to change stations, volume etc. from the steering wheel. Anybody know?

Hi Gordon, the CD changer plug is exactly the same on the grand prix but there is no optic connection... speak to becker technical, they are very helpful.
