BIGGER DIA & WIDER WHEEL'S FOR 220CE,??

The problem with buying Sportline springs is that there are several types depending on type and spec of your car
Can't say I didn't warn you. :p MB use a scoring system to select the right spring. Even headlight wipers count
Good luck with the install, you will notice a huge difference, if you need help just ask..

anybody know 100%,, if bilstein yellow shocks will be compatable with sportline springs,,

dont want to buy them and then find out the shocks are physically too short for the springs,, thanks,

bilstein catalogue

Have a look at the bilstein online catalogue http://katalog.bilstein.de/ and navigate to your model of car. Theres a cross reference to mercedes part nos in there also. Cant give you a definitive answer to your question as only someone who has actually done this could tell you. the guys at eurocar parts in London have good links to the uk bilstein suppliers so if you were to E-mail them they could maybe tell you.

Get the part number off the e-bay guy. If they're V36-0365 (Sprints) then they're the same as mine and you'll be fine.
Can't help you with where to get a spring compressor. There was a member here who had some, try doing a search.

Bringing this thread back form the dead, Ive just had my sportline springs and shocks replaced with the yellow brabus spec units from ebay and h&r sport springs. The car sits a lot niceer but under hard breaking on a motorway the front wheels appear to be rubbing the arches, Ive not had a alignment done yet, is this likely this be the reason for it?

Hmmmm....

I have the same set up as you , yellow brabus shocks (bustergasket ;) ) and springs, and i don't have any rubbing under hard braking .....

seems strange ...

akash, maybe after a re-alignment and camber adjustment it may camber inwards a little and stop the rubbing, you should have alignment and camber adjusted after spring replacement anyway!

Akash - as you prob know H&R springs need different spring pads according to options you have in your car.

If you haven't done already I would check up either the paperwork for the springs and/or H&R website to see what they recommend for the spring pad setup.( double check the spring kit number against your car model/engine too !!! )

Normally after fitting lowered springs the front of the car sits lower than the back ( if you don't touch the pads ) - just seems the way the spring manufacturers make them - you have to even it out using bigger pads at the front or lower at the back - whatever the requirement may be...

If you have the correct spring pads according to the H&R specs, and the car is sitting quite even, i.e. not lower at the front than the back ( measure between arch and wheel centre too ) then it may be due to a combination of wheel width/offset and lowering the car, arches may need rolling ? or alignment is out ?

Well im running the springs that drop the front 1.5" and the rear 1.3". The spring pads were #1 front and #3 rear, I changed the fornts to #4's at the same time.
The car is now at the bodyshop for the respray, and they are going to roll the arches before painting it.
I had planned to get the alignment done after fitting the springs, but this will be done after i get the car back now.

probably also worth mentioning that I changed the wheels at the same time as the springs to 8x17" Brabus wheels with 235/45/17 tyres.
