Hi

Just picked up 5 BEM pieces from dealer to replace the Ali. Anyone know how to put the five console BEM pieces. Centre one (gearstick surround) seems simple enough but the top one by air vent, temp and aircon, and ashtray seem difficult to remove and i don't want to snap anything. Thanks in advance.

Here's my swap pics :D

First you must remove the top centre vents. That gives access to the switch panel mounts. I managed to swap the surround without disconnecting the switch bank, fiddley but possible.
The gear surround is pull up and off, then the main deck part, that allows the ashtray to come out. The flap is simple srewed on. With the tray out the aircon unit can come out. This must be disconnected to get the trim swapped.
The hardest part was the coin tray and roller blind.

I have doc on the removal of the centre console but it's too big to attach. PM me your email addy ;)

It already looks a 100 times better.

This looks really nice!
Anyone know if BEM is available for pre-facelift C-Coupe?

Ossie, next time you are around, pop by and I'll do it for you.

The roller cover for the cubby hole is fiddly as you have to dismantle the cubby hole/drinks cup holder!

Oh, yes, Alfie's your man!

What was it you told me last time? "I'll have that out in 5min" !

Erm, and how long did it actually take you? tic, tic, tic.... coffee anyone? tic, tic.....

Mind you it was exceptionally cold that day ;) :D

I know this is slightly off topic but i hope you dont have problems like i did when trying to modify some of the interior. I bought the arm rest for my car, and tried to fit it in, had to do alot of cutting out to get it into where my old centre console used to be. Makes me wonder why mercedes build several parts for the dash for the same damn chassis/car, its so stupid.

 You shouldnt have had to cut anything out my friend, it just slots in where the old coin tray fits into. You shouldn't have had to remove anything.

Pahhhhh

If I recall it came out quickly but getting it back was somewhat longer.;) Or am I thinking of another occasion?

I installed a W209 comand APS today and the whole trim around the Audio 20was out in 5 minutes. Great I thought. Took 30 minutes to get the upper switch panel back in properly:crazy:

No... really it didnt fit. My old one had adaptive slots, the arm rest i bought had nothing of the sort. And i'm also having trouble putting the gearstick surround thing onto it, as there are extra pieces on the new armrest that weren't on the other one.

All done - total time about 1 hour and a bit. The coin holder bit was actually the easiest to do just twist it and pull the 2 tabs and whole cubby hole section comes out.

Once again for those that missed first time round part nos
for the 5 pieces:

MA 203 680 44 82
MA 203 680 45 82
MA 203 680 64 82
MA 203 680 02 23
MA 203 680 51 82

The cost is £194.60. The discounted price i paid was £184.50.

Here's some pic's of final job, must say i like it very classy. Thanks for all the advice and help as first time i have dared to put something like this in on my own as frightened of scratching the wood or breaking something, but its in.

Nice one tudu! :bannana: Looks great.

Strange isn't it how BEM looks brown in photos?

Thanks. Probably would not have done this had i not seen your's and venomous cars. My next door neighbour just had a look after admiring my handywork and said it looks classy. Yes weird that it should photograph brown - but sure looks nice, and so pleased i don't have four door trims to do.
